On April 4th, the first day of the Qingming Festival holidays, tourists across the country embarked on their vacation journeys. Data from online travel platforms shows that hotel bookings in popular destination cities in China nearly doubled compared to the same period last year. Looking at the popularity of destination provinces, Guangdong ranked second nationwide, just behind Jiangsu, followed closely by Zhejiang, Shandong, and Sichuan.
The data reveals that the peak periods for travel during the Qingming holiday were from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 3rd and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on April 4th.
Among these travelers, over half of those taking trains within a two-hour train radius. The popular destinations in the north include Beijing, Xi'an, Tianjin, Jinan, and Qingdao, while in the south, cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Changsha attract visitors.
In Guangdong, tourists experienced immersive journeys reminiscent of the prosperous Tang Dynasty at the Xile Valley in Qingyuan. Dressing in elegant Hanfu attire, they strolled through the scenic area, enjoyed food, and participated in bonfire parties, as if they had traveled through time.
Guangzhou Sunac Land offered discounts for visitors wearing Hanfu. It also presented a plethora of activities such as flower parades, the selection of flower gods, and flash mobs featuring traditional Chinese clothing, inviting tourists to welcome the spring season amidst blossoms.
In Guangdong, short-distance journeys of 1-3 days are currently trending. According to GZL International Travel Service, 40% of total travelers chose to take short-distance journeys within the province and neighboring areas. Popular destinations include Hong Kong, Macao, Zhuhai, Zengcheng, Huizhou, Qingyuan, Maoming, Dongguan, Fengkai, Chaoshan, Jiangmen, and Yingde.
"The abundant hot spring resources, well-developed ecological environment, and unique culinary culture in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have attracted a large number of tourists. Hot springs, ecology, leisure, and gourmet food have become the keywords of holiday tourism," said a spokesperson from GZL. With the continuous improvement of hot spring resort facilities and the enrichment of business formats, hot spring tourism has become the mainstream choice for leisure vacations among the elderly, families with children, as well as young tourists.
Furthermore, as the ecological environment continues to improve, the popularity of eco-tourism in Guangdong has been greatly boosted. Many tourists choose to embrace nature during the holiday, engaging in activities such as flower appreciation, outings, and fruit picking.
