Yiwu market experiences a boom ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which is scheduled to open on July 26th, 2024.

According to reports, the Yiwu International Trade City is immersed in an Olympic atmosphere. Merchants have noted that comprehensive events like the Olympics can boost Europe's tourism industry and present a great opportunity to expand their customer base. Since the second half of 2023, they have received dozens of Olympics-related orders, with customers coming from neighboring countries of France, such as Spain and Algeria. Many merchants have seen a significant increase in orders, with factory schedules backed up to May or June.

Therefore, preparing for the Olympics has become the top priority for merchants in Yiwu. In the sports goods section in Yiwu International Trade City, various types of basketballs, footballs, badminton sets, as well as flags, hangings, and sportswear are prominently displayed in the shops. Some merchants have even launched exclusive designs for the Paris Olympics - such as flash sticks in the colors of the French flag and hats shaped like the Gallic rooster, the national animal of France - which have attracted many French customers.

Data from Yiwu customs showed that the city's exports to France stood at 540 million yuan in the first two months of 2024, surging by 42% year-on-year. Notably, the export of sports goods increased by a remarkable 70.5% year-on-year.

In fact, France is not the only source of the orders brought about by the Paris Olympics. Overall, the export of sports goods from the Yiwu market has increased significantly. In the first two months of 2024, sports goods exports totaled 1.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 70.5%, signifying not just a rise in trade figures but also growing confidence in the "Olympic economy."

Meanwhile, orders for sports goods in Yiwu are not confined to the Olympics. For example, before the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Yiwu also received a steady stream of orders. From national flags to ornaments and pillows emblazoned with images of the World Cup trophy, products made in Yiwuhave enjoyed nearly 70 percent of the market share of World Cup merchandise, according to the Yiwu Sports Goods Association.

Thus, before the start of the Qatar World Cup, Yiwu exported 3.82 billion yuan of sporting goods and 9.66 billion yuan of toysduring the first eight months of this year. Meanwhile, by region, exports to Brazil were 7.58 billion yuan, up 56.7 percent compared to the same period last year, while exports to Argentina and Spain reached 1.39 billion yuan and 4.29 billion yuan, up 67.2 percent and 95.8 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, the Olympic economy has also brought unexpected benefits to Yiwu. For instance, the yellow duck hair clip worn by Olympic gold medalist Yang Qian during the Tokyo Olympics once trended on social media, sparking a nationwide rush for the same item. At this time, the "Yiwu speed" has become the most reliable guarantee for listing products on major e-commerce platforms. In just a few days, the peak daily shipment of yellow duck hair clips from Yiwu reached at least 500,000 pieces, averaging six pieces per second.

It is understood that in the Yiwu jewelry industry, seizing saleswithhot items has become the norm. Within an hour of a trending event, products are quickly stocked to seize the initial wave of attention. Within 24 hours, the reproduction of popular accessories is completed, facilitating wholesale and retail sales both online and offline, leveraging the momentum of high demand.

Paris 2024 Olympics has already triggered a boom in foreign trade orders for Yiwu, and as the event begins, it is expected to spark another wave of trending items, prompting a worldwide rush for "Made in Yiwu" products once again.

将于7月26日开幕的巴黎奥运让义乌又爆单了!

据媒体报道,义乌国际商贸城已经有了奥运氛围。有商户介绍,奥运会这类综合赛事会带动欧洲的旅游业,是拓展客户的好机会。去年下半年以来,已经接到了几十张奥运会相关订单,客户来自法国的周边国家,如西班牙、阿尔及利亚等。很多商户订单暴增,工厂排单至五、六月份。

所以,这段时间,备战“奥运”成了义乌市场商户们的头等大事。义乌国际商贸城三区体育用品区块,各种型号的篮球、足球、羽毛球以及旗帜、挂件、运动服等体育用品,被市场商户们摆在了商铺“C位”。还有商户特意为巴黎奥运推出专属款式——法国国旗颜色的闪光棒、高卢雄鸡造型的帽子等等,吸引了不少法国客户。

据义乌海关统计,今年1月至2月,义乌对法国的出口额达5.4亿元,同比增长42%,而体育用品的出口,同比增长了70.5%。

事实上,巴黎奥运会带来的订单不仅仅局限在法国,义乌市场体育用品出口整体上扬,今年1月-2月,义乌体育用品出口17亿元,同比增长70.5%。增长的不仅是贸易数据,更是市场对“奥运经济”的信心。

体育带给义乌的订单也不局限在奥运会。比如2022年卡塔尔世界杯前,义乌的订单也源源不断。据义乌体育用品协会估算,从卡塔尔世界杯32强的旗帜到加油鼓劲的喇叭、哨子,从足球到球衣、围巾,到大力神杯的摆件和抱枕,义乌制造几乎占到整个世界杯周边商品市场份额的70%。

所以,卡塔尔世界杯开赛前,2022年前8个月,义乌出口体育用品38.2亿元,出口玩具96.6亿元。按出口地区划分,对巴西出口75.8亿元,和去年同期相比增长56.7%;对阿根廷出口13.9亿元,增长67.2%;对西班牙出口42.9亿元,增长95.8%。

另一方面,奥运经济也为义乌带来了“意外”收获。例如,东京奥运会首金得主杨倩的同款小黄鸭发卡一度上了热搜,此外,陈梦的乒乓球拍项链、侯志慧同款风油精等都让全民想买同款。这时候,“义乌速度”成为各大电商平台最可靠的上架保障。所以,短短几天,从义乌发出的小黄鸭发卡高峰期日均至少50万件,平均每秒6件。

据了解,在义乌饰品产业带上,与时间抢销量的爆款故事已经成为常态。热点事件1小时内,快速上架抢占第一波关注度,24小时内,完成热销饰品的再生产,借热销势头线上线下批发零售同时推进。

这一次巴黎奥运会,义乌一直擅长的外贸订单已爆单,等到开幕时,估计又将带货新一批“热搜好物”,那时候,全民又要集体抢购“义乌造”了。
