As the global automotive industry undergoes a transformation towards intelligence and electrification, Chinese brand vehicles garnered widespread attention at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show (hereinafter referred to as "Bangkok International Motor Show"). The show, which kicked off on March 27th at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center in Thailand, is set to run for 11 days until April 7th.
Chinese automakers unveil multiple models
As the largest automotive exhibition event in the ASEAN region, this year's show attracted 49 automobile brands from China, Europe, Japan, India, and Vietnam. The exhibition area expanded to 76,000 square meters, with over 20 new models debuted.
Chinese automakers particularly shone at this event, not only debuting multiple models but also showcasing the latest in intelligent and electric technologies. Great Wall Motors introduced the smart P Series Pickup, featuring a unique hybrid power system and diverse driving modes tailored to the specific demands of the Thai market. GAC Aion presented the all-electric SUV "Haobo HT," which captured attention with its gullwing door design.
Xpeng Motors announced a long-term strategic partnership with the Thai dealership group Neo Mobility Asia, marking its official entry into the ASEAN market. Additionally, Xpeng's electric car, the Voyager X2, equipped with autonomous driving capabilities, made its appearance at the show, presenting a novel concept of transportation to the audience.
Active participation in regional cooperation to promote sustainable development
In addition to showcasing cutting-edge products, Chinese brands actively participated in regional cooperation to promote the sustainable development of the automotive industry. For example, GAC Aion plans to establish a charging network in Thailand and complete 100 fast-charging stations by 2028. Furthermore, the company will establish a research and development office to accelerate the localization of research and development processes.
Itisworth noting that the rapid development of the ASEAN automotive market presents significant opportunities for Chinese brands. According to statistics, the total sales volume of the Southeast Asian automotive market in 2023 was approximately 3.37 million units, expected to reach close to 4 million units by 2025. The implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will further promote the development of the automotive industry in the region. Chinese automotive brands such as Chery, Wuling, and Geely have achieved significant success in the Southeast Asian market, with the BYD Atto 3 accounting for over 25% of sales in Thailand's new energy vehicle market, demonstrating the strong competitiveness of Chinese brands.
Krisda Utamote, President of the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand, stated that the attractiveness of Chinese new energy vehicles in terms of brand awareness, quality recognition, and market pricing continues to strengthen. With an increasing number of brands offering new energy vehicle options priced at less than 1 million Thai baht, consumer purchasing intention is also on the rise.

作为东盟地区规模最盛大的汽车展览活动,本届车展成功吸引了来自中国、欧洲、日本、印度和越南49个汽车品牌参展,展出面积扩大至7.6万平方米,并有20多款新车型首次亮相。
其中,中国车企在此次车展上大放异彩,不仅首发了多款车型,还带来了最新的智能和电动技术。长城汽车推出的智能皮卡“山海炮”以其独特的混合动力系统和多样化驾驶模式,满足了泰国市场对皮卡车型的特殊需求。广汽埃安则带来了纯电SUV“昊铂HT”,该车型凭借鸥翼式车门设计成为焦点。
小鹏汽车宣布与泰国经销商集团Neo Mobility Asia建立长期战略合作关系,标志着其正式进军东盟市场。此外,小鹏汇天的旅航者X2飞行汽车也在车展上露面,这款具备自动驾驶功能的电动飞行汽车为观众展现了全新的出行概念。
积极参与地区合作推动可持续发展
除了展现尖端产品,中国品牌还积极参与地区合作,推动汽车产业的可持续发展。例如,广汽埃安计划在泰国建设充电网络,到2028年建成100座快充站。同时,该公司还将设立研发办公室,加速本地化研发进程。
值得注意的是,东盟汽车市场的迅速发展为中国品牌提供了巨大的机遇。据统计,2023年东南亚汽车市场总销量约为337万辆,预计到2025年将接近400万辆。《区域全面经济伙伴关系协定》的实施将进一步促进该地区汽车产业的发展。中国汽车品牌如奇瑞、五菱、吉利等已在东南亚市场取得显著成绩,其中比亚迪Atto 3在泰国新能源汽车市场中的销量占比超过25%,显示出中国品牌的强大竞争力。
泰国电动汽车协会会长乌塔莫特表示,中国新能源汽车在品牌认知度、质量认可度以及市场价格方面的吸引力不断增强,越来越多的品牌提供售价在100万泰铢以内的新能源汽车选项,消费者购买意愿也随之提升。
