Chaoshan cuisine holds a significant position in both Chinese and global culinary culture. Its enduring vitality is attributed not only to nature's generosity and the unique influence of Chaoshan culture but also to the dedication, inheritance, and promotion by generations of culinary masters and discerning individuals.
As the "Hometown of Chinese Chaoshan cuisine," Shantou will host the 2024 World Teochew Cuisine Conference from January 12th to 14th. This marked Shantou's inaugural hosting of a world-class food exhibition, inviting renowned figures from the global culinary realm to share the essence of "Chaoshan flavor."
As a branch of Chinese cuisine, specifically one of the eight great culinary traditions known as Cantonese cuisine, Chaoshan cuisine is renowned for its delicacy. It embodies the culinary wisdom and artisan spirit of the Chaoshan people, emphasizing the meticulous preparation of dishes.
Despite being a regional cuisine, Chaoshan cuisine has gained global recognition for its distinctive flavors. Following the adventurous spirit of the Chaoshan people, it has ventured beyond Chaoshan to become one of the widely embraced representatives of Chinese cuisine worldwide. Chaoshan restaurants can be found across China and increasingly around the world, continuously bringing forth delicacies like Shantou's braised goose, fish rice, pickled dishes, and various pastries. This culinary export has earned Chaoshan cuisine the reputation of "Where there's tide, there are Chaoshan people, and where there are Chaoshan people, there's Chaoshan cuisine."
The food industry in Shantou is thriving, with over 500,000 people employed in the catering sector. More than 100 chefs have received national and Guangdong provincial cooking honors. There are over 40,000 various catering enterprises, including more than 50 nationally and provincially recognized prestigious restaurants. Additionally, four restaurants from Shantou have been featured in the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, making it the only city in the Chaoshan region to be listed.
The hosting of the 2024 World Teochew Cuisine Conference in Shantou is not only a recognition of the development of the Chaoshan cuisine industry in Shantou but also expected to bring numerous benefits to the local Chaoshan cuisine sector.
The event has extended invitations to renowned chefs, distinguished culinary advisors, experts, scholars in gastronomy, and accomplished food bloggers from around the globe to gather in Shantou and savor Chaoshan cuisine. Numerous culinary industry associations, leading food enterprises, and hundreds of distinctive dining brands from various locations are participating in the exhibition in Shantou. This provides a platform for professionals to exchange cutting-edge information, collaborate, and enhance the influence of Chaoshan cuisine both domestically and internationally.

广东潮汕:精致潮菜 匠心精神
潮菜在中国乃至世界烹饪文化中占据了重要的位置。在潮菜始终保持着旺盛生命力的背后,除了有大自然的无私馈赠、独特的潮汕文化浸润外,更有赖于一代又一代的烹饪大师和有识之士的坚守、传承和发扬。
作为“中国潮菜之乡”,汕头在1月12日至14日迎来2024世界潮汕菜大会系列活动,这是汕头首次举办世界级食品展会,将广邀全球美食领域“大咖”共享“潮味”。
作为中国八大菜系之一粤菜的一个分支,潮菜以“精细”著称,体现了潮汕人民“粗菜精做”的饮食智慧和匠心精神。
潮菜虽是地方菜系,但凭借鲜明独特的风味,跟随着潮汕人敢闯敢拼的足迹,走出潮汕,成为全世界传播最广的中餐代表之一。中国各地星罗棋布的潮菜餐馆,乃至世界各地越来越多的潮菜餐馆,都把汕头的卤鹅、鱼饭、生腌、粿品等美食源源不断地带出家门,带出国门,赢得了“有潮水的地方就有潮人,有潮人的地方就有潮汕美食”的美誉。
如今,汕头美食行业蓬勃发展,餐饮从业人员逾50万人,100多名名厨获得国家、广东省烹饪荣誉,各类餐饮企业达4万多家,其中国家级、省级餐饮名店超过50家,还有4家餐厅入选黑珍珠餐厅国际榜单,是潮汕地区唯一上榜城市。
2024世界潮汕菜大会落户汕头,既是对汕头潮汕菜产业发展的认可,也将为汕头潮汕菜产业带来多项利好。
本次大会邀请了来自全球各地的名厨、知名美食顾问、美食文化专家学者、美食博主达人齐聚汕头,品鉴潮菜。多地美食行业协会、龙头餐饮企业及数百个特色餐饮品牌来汕参展,同行之间交流前沿信息,互相切磋,提升潮汕菜在国内乃至国际的影响力。
