On the morning of January 13th, the atmosphere was lively at the "Peaceful Home Elderly Dining Hall" in Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, with the beating of drums, dance performances, and calligraphy delivering blessings. In the presence of numerous leaders, distinguished local figures, and villagers, the Elderly Dining Hall was officially inaugurated.
To better meet the dining and health needs of rural elderly residents, the dining hall offers nutritionally balanced meals tailored to the tastes and health requirements of the elderly. The following groups are entitled to a meal at the Elderly Dining Hall for just 6 yuan per serving: individuals aged 60 and above, as well as professionals such as photographers, writers, painters, calligraphers, and poets with titles at the city level or above, teachers working in Wenfu Town, students, dedicated volunteers contributing to the construction of Canghai Poetry Gallery, retired military personnel, and compatriots from HKSAR, Macao SAR, Taiwan Province, and overseas Chinese. For the general public, the option is also available to relish delectable dishes at a price of 10 or 11 yuan per meal.
"The Elderly Dining Hall is not only about solving the dining problems for the elderly, providing them with convenience, but also bringing the elderly together to chat for alleviating loneliness and enhancing their sense of happiness," said Liu Wei, the person in charge of the Jiaoling County Elderly Dining Hall Catering Management Service Company.
After the opening ceremony, elderly villagers flocked to the dining hall to taste the delicious lunch, with many praising the establishment. "The environment is excellent, and dining here is convenient. Everyone being together creates a lively atmosphere," said Grandma Fu, who is about to celebrate her 90th birthday in ten days.
In addition, volunteers provided "door-to-door meal delivery" services for some elderly individuals with limited mobility. "If it weren't for my difficulty in walking, I would walk over to the dining hall. The food is delicious and reasonably priced," said Uncle Qiu, 64, while praising the meals and services delivered by volunteers.
