Baiyun Airport handles 2 mn tons of cargo in 2023

As the end of 2023 approaches, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport once again demonstrates its robust cargo distribution capability and cargo hub function. As of December 27th, the cumulative cargo throughput at Baiyun Airport this year has reached 2 million tons, surpassing the 2019 figure of 1.92 million tons. The annual cargo throughput for 2023 is expected to rank second among domestic airports. By this calculation, Baiyun Airport's cargo throughput has consistently ranked second among domestic airports for four consecutive years.

"This year, the development of cargo transportation at Baiyun Airport has focused more on value enhancement rather than just increase in quantity," noted Su Zheng, deputy general manager of a logistics company, highlighting a feature in the construction of Guangzhou's air cargo hub.

According to Su Zheng, logistics companies are now looking beyond freight forwarding companies and are exploring more customers and market opportunities in the production and supply chains. For example, actively connecting with leading cross-border e-commerce companies such as Shein and Pinduoduo, as well as advanced manufacturing companies like Huawei and DJI, to provide charter flights for e-commerce. This includes offering one-stop services for comprehensive logistics companies like FedEx, covering charter flights, warehousing, security checks, tallying, collection, and assembly, attracting more high-value and cross-border e-commerce goods to enter and exit from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

In addition, Baiyun Airport is promoting the establishment of an airport cargo alliance with industry partners such as China West Airport Group and Qingdao Airport. Through the aforementioned measures to improve quality and increase volume, Baiyun Airport's cargo throughput has once again reached 2 million tons.

It is reported that Baiyun Airport has opened 15 new international cargo routes to and from Guangzhou this year, including destinations such as Chennai, New York, Madrid, and Milan. Currently, Guangzhou has over 60 cargo routes, and Baiyun Airport's total air cargo volume accounts for nearly one-third of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The route network covers over 230 global airports, supporting Guangzhou in becoming a global production and supply chain center, and continuing to play a leading role in China's high-quality development.

Currently, the third-phase expansion project of Baiyun Airport is progressing at full speed. After the completion and operation of the third-phase expansion project, Baiyun Airport will become a more powerful hub airport that boasts 5 runways, and 2 terminal areas (including east and west cargo areas). The cargo station area of Baiyun Airport will expand from the current over 500,000 square meters to over 1 million square meters, and the terminal cargo throughput capacity will reach 6 million tons.

白云机场今年货邮吞吐量达200万吨

临近2023年年终,广州白云国际机场再次显示出强大的货邮集散能力和货运枢纽功能。截至12月27日,白云机场今年累计货邮吞吐量已达200万吨,已经超过2019年的192万吨,2023年全年的货邮吞吐量在国内机场中将位列第二。以此计算,白云机场的货邮吞吐量已连续四年位居国内机场第二名。

“今年以来,白云机场的货运业务发展更加重视价值提升而不仅是量的扩张。”物流公司副总经理苏政捕捉到当前广州航空货运枢纽建设的一个亮点。

据苏政介绍,物流公司不再似以往总是把眼光放在货代企业身上,而是在产供链上寻找更多的客户和市场机遇。例如,积极对接希音、拼多多等跨境电商头部企业以及华为、大疆等先进制造业企业,提供电商包机,为联邦快递这样的综合物流商提供包机入仓、安检、理货、收运和组板等一站式服务,通过创新业务模式吸引更多高价值和跨境电商货物从广州白云国际机场进出口。

此外,白云机场还推动与西部机场集团、青岛机场等同业伙伴建立机场货运联盟,通过上述提质增量举措,白云机场货邮量再次达200万吨。

据悉,今年以来,白云机场已新开广州往返金奈、纽约、马德里、米兰等15条国际货运航线。目前,广州已拥有超60条货运航线;白云机场航空货运总量占粤港澳大湾区近三分之一,航线网络覆盖全球230多个通航点,助力广州成为全球产供链中心,继续在中国高质量发展进程中发挥领头羊和火车头作用。

目前,白云机场三期扩建工程正全速推进,三期扩建工程建成投产后,白云机场将成为一个功能更加强大的枢纽机场,最终实现5条跑道、2个航站区的规划格局,包括东西两个货运区,白云机场的货站面积将由目前超50万平方米扩展到超100万平方米规模,终端货邮吞吐能力将达600万吨。
