Stepping into the twelfth lunar month, the festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year flows everywhere. As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, Yide Road in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, has been decorated with a new look. Red lanterns, couplets with blessings, New Year decorations, red envelopes and the like could be seen everywhere. The ubiquitous "Chinese red" has fully enhanced the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.

Yide Road is a well-known distribution center for special purchases for the Spring Festival in South China and even the whole country. Special purchases for the Spring Festival here not only have a wide variety of novel styles but also sell at low prices, attracting retailers from all over the country and even overseas. The new products with the theme of the lunar year of the dragon are very eye-catching. Many passers-by will take away a stack of red envelopes with cartoon dragon images or a lifelike paper dragon model.

Reporters found that every shop along the street was crowded with citizens buying goods. Some bought five or six kinds, while others bought even twenty to thirty kinds of goods. A Hong Kong resident told the reporter, "In Hong Kong, the wholesale price of a doll is 70 to 80 yuan, but here it is half the price."

Several shop owners told reporters that there has been a noticeable increase in wholesale and retail customers since the beginning of the twelfth lunar month. This year has witnessed impressive sales of goods for use in the Spring Festival, and many new types of goods have already sold out. Manufacturers are working around the clock to ensure the supply.

"Excuse me, how much is this calendar of the Year of the Dragon?" "That calendar is sold out. Why not buy something else!" In front of the Tianyue Store, Miss. Chen, the owner, enthusiastically treated customers. Inside, her son sat at the counter, confirming orders and delivery details with the buyer on the other end of the phone, while her daughter-in-law held a bill and a pen in hand, introducing and recording customers' needs.

"The store is very popular these days. I get up at seven o'clock in the morning and am busy until the evening. I don't have time for eating, and my son and daughter-in-law have to work overtime until late every day. So, I have to hire one more person to help!" During the busy hours, Chen told the reporter that not only the old customers often come, but also the new customers are increasing. Her words are full of joy.

During mealtime, Aunt Chen introduced her family's experience of living and working in Guangzhou after leaving their hometown. They came from their hometown in Hebei to open a shop in Guangzhou, and the location of the shop has remained unchanged for 13 years. They usually sell swimming supplies, but during festivals, they also sell festive decorations. "Our whole family relies on this shop. We bought a house nearby and settled down. We are busy but fulfilled every day."

Many people, like Aunt Chen's family, are "searching for gold" on Yide Road. The reporter visited several shops in succession, and most of the shop owners are from other provinces. They have rooted themselves here, doing business and living here for decades. When asked about their New Year's wishes, Miss. Chen said, "Our business will definitely be better this year, and I hope to earn more money."
