On January 26th, Chunyun of 2024, the Chinese New Year Travel Rush, is about to begin. According to the prediction of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the passenger traffic during the Chinese New Year Travel Rush in 2024 is expected to reach a record high of 80 million, with an average of two million passengers per day, an increase of 9.8% compared to 2019.

During the 40-day Chinese New Year Travel Rush, China Eastern Airlines plans to deploy 783 passenger aircraft, and all four of its domestically-produced C919 large passenger jets will make their debut during the Spring Festival, operating on the Beijing-Shanghai and Shanghai-Chengdu routes. In order to fully meet the needs of passengers' travel, China Eastern Airlines plans to operate 3,280 passenger flights per day during the Spring Festival, an increase of 42% compared to the previous year.

This year's Chunyun comes "late", with the return of workers to their hometowns before the Spring Festival being earlier and more dispersed. The passengers like students, workers, and those who visit relatives before the festival will not be as concentrate as those who return after the festival. Eastern Airlines predicts that its flight peak will occur in the three days before the Spring Festival and the three days after the fifth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Tourist routes are also popular during the Spring Festival holiday. For popular tourist destinations, China Eastern Airlines has increased flights to the Northeast, Northwest, Southwest, and Central China regions. Focusing on popular routes such as island tours and ice and snow tours, China Eastern Airlines predicts a significant increase in passenger volume to southern tourist cities such as Sanya, Haikou, and Xishuangbanna, as well as ice and snow tourist cities in the Northeast and Xinjiang. In terms of the South China region, China Eastern Airlines has also increased flights of the Guangzhou-Zhengzhou-Harbin ice and snow tour route, with two flights per day during the Chinese New Year Travel Rush.

With visa-free policies and a smoother application process in some overseas destinations, outbound tourism is expected to peak during this year's Chinese New Year Travel Rush, with main destinations like Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, etc. China Eastern Airlines will add 15 new international routes, resume the Pudong-Cairns route, and add the Pudong-Perth, Daxing-Kuala Lumpur routes, as well as increase the flights from Pudong to Sydney, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Male.

Data shows that China Eastern Airlines has a large number of daily flights to destinations such as Bangkok and Singapore and has seen significant capacity growth in destinations such as Okinawa and Kuala Lumpur. China Eastern Airlines stated that there will be a small peak in the number of daily international flights around the Spring Festival and advised passengers with travel needs to pay attention to the flight information in advance.

4架C919国产大飞机将迎来春运“首秀”

1月26日，2024年春运即将拉开帷幕，根据民航局预测，2024年春运民航旅客运量有望创历史新高，将达到8000万人次，日均200万人次，较2019年增长9.8%。

在长达40天的春运期间，东航计划投入客运飞机783架，旗下的全部4架C919国产大飞机将迎来春运“首秀”，在京沪、沪蓉航线执飞。为全力服务旅客航空出行需求，东航计划春运期间每天执行客运航班3280班，同比增长42%。

今年是一个“晚春运”，春运前务工人员返乡流提早且分散，“学生”“务工”“探亲”客源的节前叠加效应有所减弱，而节后返程则将比较集中。东航预计，其航班高峰会出现在春节前三天及大年初六起的三天。

旅游航线在春节假期也广受青睐。针对旅游热点方向，东航重点对东北、西北、西南、华中等地区进行运力增投。围绕海岛游、冰雪游等“一南一北”的热门线路，东航研判三亚、海口、西双版纳等南方旅游城市和东北、新疆等地的冰雪旅游城市旅客量将显著增长。在华南地区，东航也加密了广州-郑州-哈尔滨的冰雪游热点航线，春运期间该航线增加至每日两班。

随着签证更加便利、部分境外目的地有了免签政策，境外游有望在今年春运迎来高峰，目的地主要集中在澳大利亚、日韩、东南亚等。东航将新增国际地区航线15条，恢复浦东-凯恩斯，新增浦东-珀斯、大兴-吉隆坡，加密浦东至悉尼、曼谷、吉隆坡、马累等航线。

数据显示，东航投入日均班次量较大的站点有曼谷、新加坡等，运力增幅较大的有冲绳、吉隆坡等航点。东航表示，春节前后部分日期的单日国际航班量将出现小高峰，建议有出行需求的旅客提前关注。
