The 2024 "New Year in the Flower City" series of events have kicked off on January 24th and will last until the end of February.

With six major sections covering traditional fireworks customs, spring outings and flower admiring, trendy fun activities, diverse artistic performances, various cultural exhibitions, and New Year gift giving, there will be over 2,500 cultural and tourism activities for citizens and visitors to experience the Year of the Dragon amidst a more lively and festive atmosphere, and a more thriving market.

Abundant traditional customs enhance the festive atmosphere

After a hiatus of twelve years, Spring Festival firework shows will be restarted in Guangzhou.

On February 10th (the first day of the lunar new year), the Guangzhou Spring Festival fireworks show will be grandly presented beside the Bai'e Lake (White Goose Lake), which will last for 45 minutes.

In addition, unique fireworks show and drone performance will be held at Mingzhu Bay in Nansha District, while different forms of fireworks displays will be hosted in Conghua Bishuiwan Hot Spring Resort. Outlets Holiday in Conghua District will also feature drone shows.

The city will also see over 900 events featuring traditional customs, including the Guangfu Temple Fair in Yuexiu District, the Lantern Festival at Grandview Mall in Tianhe District, and the lion dance parade in Conghua District.

A Flower City in blossom

During the Spring Festival holiday, nearly 1,200 flower appreciation activities will be held throughout the city, while the Spring Festival Flower Fairs in various districts will be open one after another.

The Xihu Flower Market and the "Metaverse Flower Market" will be held in Yuexiu District, while Liwan District's waterside flower market will recreate the scene of a "river adorned with green waves and both banks colored in lychee red".

A cherry blossom festival will be held in Habitat Creek of Huadu District, while the 2024 Guangzhou Garden Expo will be hosted in Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area. The Shimen National Forest Park, Liuxi River National Forest Park, and Luodong Town in Conghua District will all be adorned with blooming flowers.

New exciting ways to explore the Flower City

Various scenic spots and attractions have launched colorful holiday activities to attract local residents and tourists.

Chimelong in Guangzhou invites visitors to explore the first-ever exhibition of Komodo dragons in China. Lianhua Mountain Scenic Area in Panyu District holds the "Seeking Fortune and Wealth" activity. And Shawan Ancient Town hosts a series of cultural events centered around the Silver Festival Cultural Season.

Activities such as the Spring Festival Garden Tour and Dragon Year Blessing will be held in scenic areas like Baijianghu Forest Park in Zengcheng District, while Conghua District will launch the theme event "Spend the Lunar New Year in the Hot Spring" with the 22nd Bishui Bay Spring Festival Hot Spring Carnival and an outdoor sports festival at Tao Sence.

A plethora of spectacular performances to captivate the audience

During the Spring Festival, major theaters and performing venues in the city will present over 100 high-quality cultural performances.

The Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater, Jiangnan Grand Theater, and South Theater will bring discounts to Cantonese opera fans for New Year's blessing. The Guangdong music exhibitions at the Nanyue Kingdom Palace and puppet shows such as "A Day and a Night" presented by the Guangdong Puppet Art Theater will showcase the traditional arts of Guangdong. And the ethnic dance drama "Awakening Lion" by the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater as well as "The Yellow River" by the Guangzhou Ballet will also be staged during the Spring Festival.

Amid a rich cultural atmosphere

Major museums, memorial halls, art galleries, and libraries in Guangzhou have decided to hold miscellaneous activities during the Spring Festival holiday.

Such activities include the Zodiac Garden Party at the Guangzhou Museum, light shows featuring ancient temples at the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum, a thematic event featuring auspicious dragons at the Guangzhou Museum of Art, the museum fair at the Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History and so on.

感受广式烟火气！广州邀你过大年

2024年“广州过年 花城看花”系列活动来了！本次活动自1月24日正式启动，持续至2月底。

烟火年俗、踏春赏花、潮玩乐游、百戏争芳、多彩文博、新春礼包等六大板块共计2500多场文旅活动，让市民游客感受到年味更浓、市场更旺、烟火气更足的龙年新春。

传统民俗年味浓

阔别十二年，广州将重启新春烟花汇演活动。

2月10日（大年初一），广州春节烟花汇演在白鹅潭隆重呈现，时长45分钟。

此外，南沙区将在明珠湾举办独具特色的海上烟花汇演和无人机表演，广州融创、从化碧水湾温泉度假区也将举办形式各异的烟花秀，从化区8号仓流溪奥莱小镇将举办无人机秀。

全市另有900多场传统年俗活动，如越秀区广府庙会、海珠区非遗里的广府年味、天河区正佳广场大唐千灯会、从化区百头龙狮大巡游等。

繁花满城皆是景

春节假期，全市将举办近1200场赏花活动，各区迎春花市也将陆续开启。

越秀区举办西湖花市，并推出“元宇宙花市”；荔湾水上花市将再现“一湾江水绿，两岸荔枝红”水上花墟盛景。

花都七溪地举办樱花节，白云山风景区举办第31届广州园林博览会，从化区西和村、石门国家森林公园、流溪河国家森林公园、罗洞小镇百花绽放。

乐游花城玩法新

各景区景点推出精彩纷呈的假期活动，吸引市民游客打卡。

广州长隆邀请游客探寻全国首发的科莫多龙展，番禺莲花山景区举办“摣金搲银行大运”活动，沙湾古镇举办捧银喜事文化季系列活动。

增城区白江湖森林公园、七彩澳游、二龙山举办新春游园、龙年祈福等活动。从化区推出“温泉陪你过大年”主题活动，举办第二十二届碧水湾新春温泉欢乐节，并在天人山水举办户外运动节。

好戏连台出新彩

春节期间，全市各大院团、演艺空间将推出100多场精品文艺演出。

广州粤剧院、江南大戏院、南方剧院为粤剧戏迷送上新年福利。南越王宫署广东音乐展演、广东省木偶艺术剧院《一天零一夜》等木偶演出，带来广东传统艺术展示。广州歌舞剧院民族舞剧《醒·狮》、广州芭蕾舞团《黄河》也将在春节上演。

文化气息更浓厚

广州市各大博物馆、纪念馆、美术馆、图书馆策划举办各类精彩纷呈的春节假期活动。

广州博物馆推出生肖游园会，广东民间工艺博物馆推出古祠留芳光影秀，广州艺术博物院举办祥龙献瑞主题活动。广东革命历史博物馆推出博物馆集市，农讲所纪念馆推出寻龙贺穗活动。
