The popularity of Chinese tricycles in the US can be partially attributed to a video released on social media by a Chinese girl named Wu Bo, who bought an electric tricycle for her family members in the US, which has attracted the attention of residents. When elders of her family took the tricycle out for a spin, many passers-by spotted the tricycle would ask for the purchase link, and some even offered to purchase the blogger's one. The local police are also fond of the tricycle and suggested the blogger establish a factory in the US and import parts from China for assembly and sale.
It is reported that Wu Bo is a Beijing girl with a husband from the US. Initially, attracted by an electric tricycle of a vegetable vendor at a morning market in China, her American father-in-law was eager to have one of his own. Therefore, she purchased one from a Chinese electric tricycle factory. After two months of overseas shipment, the tricycle finally arrived in the United States, passed the vehicle inspection and became road-legal. In her video, Wu Bo mentioned that the shipping cost was even higher than the price of the tricycle itself.
According to reports, the electric tricycle Wu Bo purchased was produced by a manufacturer in Wuxi, China, which has an annual production capacity of 300,000 motorcycles and 800,000 electric vehicles. With over 200 styles of motorcycles and electric vehicles, their products are popular both at home and abroad. The spokesperson mentioned that 20% to 40% of their total annual products will be exported to 70 countries and regions. The factory's researchers also conduct preliminary surveys on the target market's road conditions and local usage habits to ensure that the electric tricycles are well-suited for local driving.
In fact, Jiangsu Province is known as the "Capital of Electric Vehicles" worldwide, and Jiangsu's Fengxian County is the largest industrial base for electric tricycles in China. Currently, Fengxian County boasts over 1,000 enterprises engaged in the production of complete new electric vehicles and related components, with an annual production capacity of over 5 million vehicles, accounting for over 60% of the domestic electric tricycle market share and over 95% of the electric motor market share, whose products were exported to more than 130 countries.

国产“三蹦子”在美国走红部分源自一位中国姑娘吴博在社交媒体发布的视频。此前,她给在美国的家人买了一辆电动三轮车,这辆“三蹦子”受到当地居民的喜爱,老人开出去兜风时,不少看到的人表示想要购买链接,甚至还有人想直接买下博主的这台电动三轮车。当地警察也很喜欢对这辆三轮车,并建议博主与市长商讨建设一个工厂,将零件从中国运到美国进行组装销售的事宜。
据悉,吴博是中国北京人,丈夫是美国人。起初,她的美国公公在中国早市上看到了卖菜阿姨的电动车,很想要一辆,于是她从中国一家电动三轮车工厂购买了一辆。经历两个月的漂洋过海,到达了美国,并且完成了车检,可以上牌。吴博在视频中称,运费比“三蹦子”的价格都要贵。
据报道,吴博的公公这辆电动三轮车是中国无锡一家厂商生产的,该厂已有年产摩托车30万辆、电动车80万辆的生产能力,200多个款式的摩托车和电动车畅销全国各地及海外。负责人介绍称,他们每年生产的产品总量中,有二到四成会走出国门,销往70个国家和地区。工厂研发人员表示,他们还会事先调研目标市场的道路概况和当地人的使用习惯,让电动三轮车更适合当地驾驶。
实际上,江苏是世界“电动车之都”,其中江苏丰县是全国最大的电动三轮车产业基地。目前,丰县已累计拥有新能源电动车整车及配套企业1000多家,年生产整车能力突破500万辆,占据国内60%以上的电动三轮车市场份额和95%以上的电机市场份额,产品出口到130多个国家。
