On the evening of January 20th, the 14th Foshan (Chancheng) Lingnan New Year Festival and Foshan Ancient Town Lantern Festival marking the Year of Dragon kicked off at Foshan Lingnan Tiandi. Key areas in Foshan such as Zhaoxiang Park, Chengmentou Road, and Zhaoxiang Road were adorned with vibrant colors of lanterns, adding brilliance to the New Year of Foshan Ancient Town to open a new chapter of Lingnan traditions.

Foshan Ancient Town Lantern Festival, one of the top ten folk events in Chancheng, is themed by "Colorful Ancient Town, Sparkling Lantern Festival" this year. As an important part of the Lingnan New Year Festival, the Lantern Exhibition at Foshan Ancient Town will continue until February 24th, 2024.

At the main venue Lingnan Tiandi, guests and visitors dressed in various styles of Hanfu robes strolled among the ancient brick houses amidst the dazzling night with their wide sleeves gently swaying. Accompanied by romantic 'snowflakes' and golden flakes filling the sky, an atmosphere full of ancient charm was thus created. Next to the Jian's Mansion, people enthusiastically participated in the pitching game amidst endless applause, laughter, and cheers.

It is reported that at the beginning of 2024, Foshan City decided to activate the "Ten Traditional Cultures" including Cantonese opera, dragon and lion dance, ceramic art, etc. At the event scene, ten representatives of traditional cultures handed lanterns to children, symbolizing the passing-on of cultural heritage and earnest hopes to the next generation.

At the same time, to bridge the communication between Hong Kong and Chancheng, more than 20 representatives from the Association of Hong Kong Residents in Chancheng District and the Hong Kong Foshan Ancestral Temple Overseas Association, as well as Chancheng-based young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, and Hong Kong-based Foshan elites were invited to participate in the event, experiencing the vibrant Lingnan folk atmosphere and the thriving development of their hometown.

On the evenings of January 21st and 27th, there will be a "Snowfall" themed concert held at Changuifang Fountain Square in Chancheng. During the Spring Festival of 2024, over 100 cultural activities with distinctive Lingnan characteristics, such as the Wenhua Flower Market will also be held in Chancheng, aiming to bring abundant happiness and fulfillment to residents and visitors.

华灯璀璨年味浓！佛山古镇灯会来了

1月20日晚，第十四届佛山（禅城）岭南年俗欢乐节暨甲辰年佛山古镇灯会启动仪式在佛山岭南天地举行。在岭南天地、兆祥公园、东方新天地、城门头路、兆祥路等重点区域及主干道上，流光溢彩的花灯齐齐点亮，共同装点佛山古镇璀璨新春，开启岭南年俗欢乐篇章。

佛山古镇灯会是禅城十大民俗活动之一，今年灯会的主题是“多彩古镇 闪亮灯场”。作为岭南年俗欢乐节的重要组成部分，2024佛山古镇花灯展将一直持续到2月24日。

在岭南天地主会场，身着各式汉服的嘉宾和游人们广袖轻扬，衣袂飘飘，一个个化身古代才子佳人，漫步于璀璨夜色中，行走于青砖镬耳屋之间。活动现场还有浪漫的飘雪、漫天的金箔，古风古韵氛围感拉满。在简氏别墅旁的投壶处，人们争相竞技，掌声、欢笑声、喝彩声不断。

据了解，2024年伊始，佛山市便提出激活粤剧文化、功夫文化、龙舟文化、龙狮文化、陶艺文化、工匠文化、美食文化、秋色文化、祖庙文化、忠义文化等“十大传统文化”。此次活动现场，十位传统文化的代表将手中的灯笼传递给小朋友们，也将文化传承的时代使命和殷切寄望传递到新一代手中。

同时，为架起禅港互动交流的“连心桥”，禅城区港人交流会、香港佛山祖庙海外联谊会的二十余名乡亲代表、在禅香港青年企业家，以及在港佛山乡贤受邀专程从香港过来参加活动，感受精彩纷呈的岭南民俗氛围和家乡发展的蓬勃活力。

1月21日、27日晚，在禅桂坊喷泉广场还有佛山古镇灯会系列活动之“飘雪”主题音乐会；龙年春节期间，禅城将举办文华花市、行通济等100多场独具岭南特色的文化活动，致力让市民游客收获满满、幸福满满。
