Currently, in the marine ranches near Caotan Town in Suixi, Zhanjiang, enormous aquaculture net cages resemble a string of doughnuts embedded in the sea. Under the sunlight, freshly harvested golden pomfrets emit a golden glow, enhancing the smiles on the fishermen's faces. Accompanied by joyous laughter, the annual Zhanjiang Winter Fishing Festival unfolds.
The flesh of the golden pomfret is delicate, tender, and delicious, with high nutritional value, making it a favorite among consumers. In recent years, Zhanjiang has positioned its industry with the slogan "Norway has salmon while Zhanjiang has golden pomfret". The city has improved the quality of fry and aquaculture, becoming the largest golden pomfret farming base in the country and earning the title of the capital of the Chinese golden pomfret.
Zhanjiang is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with seawater temperatures ranging between 14°C and 30°C and salinity at around 30‰. With abundant coastal mudflats and marine resources, it is a prime area for cultivating golden pomfret. One out of every three golden pomfrets in the country comes from Zhanjiang.
As the largest golden pomfret aquaculture base in the country, Zhanjiang primarily employs deep-sea cage farming methods. It has established five deep-sea cage farming zones in Caotan, Liusha, Xilian, Leizhou Bay, and Zhanjiang Bay. These areas boast a total of 3,564 deep-sea cages and three frame-type aquaculture platforms. With an annual production of 100,000 tons of golden pomfret, it holds the first position nationwide, accounting for one-third of the country's total output.
The salt-marinated golden pomfret left overnight was honored as the top product on the list of the top ten famous Guangdong ready-made dishes in 2021. In 2022, it secured a place among the "Top Ten Bestselling Ready-Made Dishes of 2022". In June of the same year, Zhanjiang was also bestowed with the title of the "Capital of Chinese Aquatic Ready-Made Dishes."
Presently, Zhanjiang's golden pomfret processing system is comprehensive, with processed products including chopped pepper, spicy, pickled cabbage, pineapple golden pomfret, golden pomfret slices, fish balls, and other ready-made dishes. They have introduced products such as "Salt-Marinated Overnight Golden Pomfret" and "Dried Golden Pomfret", helping to alleviate the sales pressure on fresh and frozen golden pomfret in terms of time and space.
Riding on the wave of the "Year of Fish Economy", Zhanjiang vigorously launched the Golden pomfret Harvest Season and the "Year of Fish" series of activities. Zhanjiang's golden pomfret participated in the first China New Year Fish Expo and was honored with the title of"Top Ten Regional Brands of Good Chinese Year of Fish". In June 2023, Zhanjiang kicked off the Modern Ocean Ranch Activity Month, hosting ten special events, including the Zhanjiang International Fisheries Expo. In July, Zhanjiang's aquatic ready-made dishes made their way to South Korea as China National Fisheries Corporation successfully signed a contract with a large retail enterprise in South Korea, further expanding into the RCEP market.

“中国金鲳鱼之都”湛江如何养好“一条鱼”?
时下,在湛江遂溪草潭镇附近海域的海洋牧场上,巨大的养殖网箱像一个个“甜甜圈”镶嵌在海面上。阳光下,刚打捞上来的金鲳鱼散发着金色光芒,将渔民脸上的笑容映射得更加光彩夺目。伴随着大家的欢笑声,一年一度的“湛江冬捕”拉开帷幕。
金鲳鱼肉质细嫩、鲜美可口,营养价值高,备受消费者喜爱。近年来,湛江以“挪威有三文鱼,湛江有金鲳鱼”为产业定位,在种苗、养殖方面提高品质,成为全国最大的金鲳鱼养殖基地,获评“中国金鲳鱼之都”。
湛江三面环海,海水温度在14℃—30℃之间,盐度在30‰左右,沿海滩涂和海洋资源丰富,是养殖金鲳鱼的黄金海域。全国每三条金鲳鱼就有一条来自湛江。
作为全国最大的金鲳鱼养殖基地,湛江金鲳鱼养殖方式以深海网箱养殖为主,已建成草潭、流沙、西连、雷州湾、湛江湾5个深海网箱养殖园区,拥有深海网箱数量达3564个、桁架式养殖平台3个,年产金鲳鱼达10万吨,排全国第一,占全国总产量的1/3。
“一夜埕金鲳鱼”于2021年荣获广东预制菜十大名品榜首,2022年跻身“2022预制菜十大爆品”,湛江也在同年6月被授予了“中国水产预制菜之都”的美誉。
当前,湛江金鲳鱼加工体系完整,加工产品主要有剁椒、麻辣、酸菜、菠萝金鲳鱼和金鲳鱼片、鱼丸等预制菜种类,推出了“一夜埕金鲳鱼”“金鲳鱼干”等产品,进一步缓解活鲜、冰鲜金鲳鱼在时间、空间上的销售压力。
乘着“年鱼经济”的东风,湛江大力开展金鲳丰收季暨“年鱼”系列活动。湛江金鲳鱼参加“首届中国年鱼博览会”,获得“中华好年鱼十大区域品牌”称号。2023年6月,湛江现代化海洋牧场活动月启动,举办湛江国际水产博览会等十大专场活动;7月,湛江水产预制菜走进韩国,国联水产与韩国大型商超流通企业成功签约,进一步开拓RCEP市场。
