On the evening of November 17th, local time in Italy, a large-scale concert for the traditional Chinese orchestra titled "Cantonese Rhyme alongside the Silk Road" was held in Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. This concert presented the exploration and innovation of contemporary Chinese chamber music through a fusion of old and new.

Talented musicians from Guangdong, China delivered stunning performances of renowned Cantonese compositions such as "In Celebration of Good Times" (《娱乐升平》), the classical Chinese piece "A Moonlit Night On The Spring River" (《春江花月夜》), the instrumental solo piece "Hundreds Of Birds Worshipping The Phoenix" (《百鸟朝凤》), and the classic folk music "Rising Higher Step By Step" (《步步高》). As a grand finale, the performer Guangdong National Orchestra prepared a special surprise for the audience that is an enchanting rendition of the widely cherished Italian piece "Torna a Surriento".

At the same time, the concert showcased a wonderful exhibition featuring Guangdong's intangible cultural heritage (ICH) projects. Guests from Bologna had the opportunity to engage in face-to-face exchanges with ICH inheritors from Guangdong, including Rao Baolian (the inheritors of Cantonese paper-cutting art), Liu Zhongping (the inheritor of Foshan New Year woodblock paintings) and Wu Wenxin (the inheritor of Dawu clay sculpture). This unique exhibition of Lingnan's unique craftsmanship displayed the beauty of traditional Lingnan culture, as well as the innovative development and creative transformation of intangible cultural heritage in modern times.

For this cultural exchange event, Consul General Liu Kan of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Milan, said that music, as a language without borders, serves as a cultural bridge for exchanges and mutual learning between nations, as well as an important means to promote people-to-people connections. The consulate will support the organization of more cultural exchange activities to further the mutual learning and understanding of Chinese and Italian civilizations and enhance connections between people.

Mauro Felicori, Councilor for culture and landscape of the Emilia-Romagna Region, said that Emilia-Romagna has maintained a strong friendship with Guangdong Province. As the world recovers from the pandemic, there is renewed interest in fostering cultural exchange between the two regions. It is hoped that the cooperation between the two sides can be deepened in cultural aspects, such as the protection and development of intangible cultural heritage.

Claudio Mazantti, a councilor of the city of Bologna, said that there is a special friendship between Bologna and Guangdong Province, along with the city's willingness to further enhance the mutual exchanges and cooperations.

It is reported that the Silk Road-themed concert will continue its journey as part of the "Guangdong Cultural Overseas Tour of the Charming China 2023" event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“丝路粤韵”在意大利奏响，多彩广东非遗同期精彩展示

当地时间11月17日晚，“丝路粤韵——广东民族音乐会”在意大利艾米利亚-罗马涅大区首府博洛尼亚举办。本次“丝路粤韵——广东民族音乐会”演出作品以新旧交错、古今融合的组合方式，展示当代中国室内乐的探索与创新。

来自中国广东的演奏家们精彩演绎了广东音乐名曲《娱乐升平》、中国古典名曲《春江花月夜》、器乐独奏名曲《百鸟朝凤》、民乐经典作品《步步高》等多首经典曲目。在演出尾声，广东民族乐团还准备了“彩蛋”，为听众带来广为流传的意大利名曲《重归苏莲托》。

音乐会同期还进行了来自广东非物质文化遗产项目的精彩展示。广东剪纸代表性传承人饶宝莲、佛山木版年画代表性传承人刘钟萍、大吴泥塑代表性传承人吴闻鑫等与博洛尼亚的来宾面对面交流，呈现了一场独具岭南特色的技艺展示，令现场嘉宾感受岭南传统文化之美以及非遗在当代创造性转化、创新性发展的成果。

对于本次交流活动，中国驻米兰总领事刘侃表示，音乐是没有国界的语言，是国家间交流互鉴的文化桥梁，是促进民心相知相通的重要途径。中国驻米兰总领事馆将支持举办更多人文交流活动，为推动中意乃至世界文明互学互鉴、民心相连相通贡献力量。

艾米利亚-罗马涅大区文化及景观委员Mauro Felicori表示，艾米利亚-罗马涅大区一直与广东省保持着非常好的友谊。随着疫情阴霾逐渐散去，两地的交流重新开始。希望两地之间能在文化，例如在非物质文化遗产的保护和发展方面加深双方合作。

博洛尼亚市议员Claudio Mazantti表示，博洛尼亚与广东省有着特别好的友谊，愿与广东省进一步加强交流合作。

据悉，接下来，“丝路粤韵——广东民族音乐会”还将随着2023魅力中国——广东“文化海外行”活动继续在马来西亚吉隆坡举办。
