Guangdong announced the first batch of 15 small and micro wetland demonstration sites covering 10 cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Jiangmen, and Dongguan.

It is understood that the selected small and micro wetland demonstration sites differ from each other in ecosystem protection and restoration, ecological supply services, and comprehensive benefits. For example, low-intervention techniques are used to create habitats such as grassy shore, bare valley flats, farming wetlands, and nearshore forests in the demonstration site of Changling Section in Nangang River, Huangpu District, Guangzhou. It improves the water environment and biological reproduction conditions, fully links local species with characteristic river habitats in Lingnan, and creates an ecological landscape of clear water, green banks, fragrant flowers and singing birds for surrounding residents.

Another demonstration site, the Shatoujiao Forest Farm, is located in the Yantian District of Shenzhen. The forest farm combines current forest stands and water systems to plant aquatic plants in patches to create a flower sea in wetlands. It has created a diverse vegetation community and wetland environment that provides habitats and shelters for wetland organisms and also a place for surrounding residents to enjoy sightseeing and leisure.

According to officials from the Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province, the construction of small and micro wetland demonstration sites is still in its infancy as recognized in Guangdong for the first time. Next, Guangdong will further its efforts in actively promoting the protection and rational utilization of small and micro wetlands, continuously improving people’s sense of gain and happiness to improve ecological construction.

广东公布首批小微湿地示范点名单

近日，广东首批小微湿地示范点名单公布，英德市连江口镇大樟坑连樟段等15处小微湿地入选，覆盖广州、深圳、佛山、江门、东莞等10个地市。

据了解，本次入选的小微湿地示范点在湿地生态系统保护修复、生态供给服务和湿地综合效益发挥等方面各具特色。例如，位于广州市黄埔区的南岗河（长岭段）小微湿地示范点，通过低干预手法，营造沙洲草滩、河谷光滩、农田湿地、水岸林地等生境栖息地，改善水体环境和生物繁衍条件，使乡土物种与岭南特色河流生境充分链接，为周边居民打造“水清岸绿，鸟语花香”的生态景观。

沙头角林场小微湿地示范点位于深圳市盐田区，林场结合现有林分及水系，片植水生植物，营造湿地花海，打造了多样化的植被群落与湿地环境，为湿地生物提供了栖息地与庇护场所，也为周边居民提供了观赏休憩的场地。
