In the heart of every Heshan resident, there is a "rainbow". Colossal stories have been passed down on the Rainbow Ancient Path on Rainbow Ridge. As the famous overseas Chinese and patriotic democrat, Song Sen, said, "If you haven't been to Rainbow Ridge, you can't consider yourself a Heshan person."
Looking back at the road ancestors took, there was an ancient path and several stone houses. Three hundred years ago, after enduring numerous hardships, the Hakka people from eastern Guangdong finally settled in the Zaomu Mountain. Seventeen Hakka villages are scattered among the dense forests of the mountain, and people with surnames like Huang, Luo, Qiu, Cai, and Lai established villages here, reclaimed the land, and grew tea, flourishing. Since then, the sound of Hakka songs can be heard everywhere.
The steepness of the terrain didn't deter hardworking ancestors. A convenient road connects Shuangqiao Village and Heshan County. The Hakka ancestors made a living along this mountain road, embracing the infinite beauty in their hearts.
The natural scenery has inspired countless works by later literati and poets. Passing through the mountains with the wind and rain, rainbow, which became the mane of the mountain and the path, perfectly captures the beauty of the clearing sky after the storm, symbolizing the bright future of Heshan.
In the eyes of Li Jinfei, the curator of the Heshan Museum, every peculiar stone along the Rainbow Ancient Path is filled with stories. At the junction where the ancient path forks, ancestors erected wayfinding stones, serving as landmarks to guide generations of travelers, witnessing the pioneering journey of the Heshan people.
Gathering a few close friends to explore the ancient path, while reminiscing about the intriguing history of the Rainbow Ancient Path, one can also enjoy the picturesque scenery, the sounds of birds, and the fragrance of flowers along the way. Breathing in the fresh air of nature, you will find that all worries and frustrations fade away in an instant.
