On November 4th, four journalists from Indonesian mainstream media outlets visited Shenzhen to explore two leading high-tech companies, AI companyShenzhen Intellifusion Technologies, and BYD, a world leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs). Their visits provided an up-close view of theflourishing new quality productive forces of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
AI "City Brain" solution, a potential fit for Jakarta
The journalists began their tour at the Intellifusion City Brain Center, one of the largest showrooms for AI companies in the GBA, spanning 1,600 square meters. Here, they gained insights into the company's development and the evolution of its AI technology.
Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies, a unicorn in the AI sector, has pioneered advancements in urban management. A company representative explained how their AI chip and AI large language models empower city surveillance systems, enabling real-time recognition of traffic congestion, illegal street vending, and ad posters in public spaces. These "electronic eyes" then feed data to a central "smart brain," prompting authorities to deploy personnel for on-site handling.
Ricky from Kumparan was intrigued, asking if the technology had already been implemented. The representative from Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies confirmed that the system is operational in cities like Shenzhen, Dongguan, Beijing, and Shanghai. Ricky commented on Jakarta's severe traffic issues, noting that adopting an AI-powered "city brain" could significantly improve traffic management.
At the center, the Indonesian journalists also tried an interactive AI-based book recommendation feature. By scanning their faces, the AI analyzed basic demographic data to suggest suitable books. Desca from Antara was recommended "A General History of China" by the system. Impressed by the personalized suggestion, she remarked, "This device is incredibly intelligent, and I do need to learn more about Chinese history!"
BYD's popularity and innovation
In the afternoon, the Indonesian journalists visited BYD, a world leader in the NEV sector. BYD has a strong presence in Southeast Asia, with 26 sales outlets in Indonesia alone, making this visit a highly anticipated part of the tour.
The journalists were captivated by various BYD models, including the Yangwang U8, Fangchengbao, and Tengshi, eagerly taking photos. They explored fully automated display models of BYD's four main car manufacturing processes and watched a blade battery puncture test demonstration.
Indonesian journalists were particularly interested in the NEV range. Neli from Kompas, a car owner herself, noted that BYD's Ocean series is popular in Indonesia, where BYD vehicles are increasingly visible. However, gas-powered cars still dominate in Indonesia due to limited charging infrastructure, with drivers trusting more in fuel-powered vehicles' range. BYD representatives explained that their unique battery technology allows a full charge within 30 minutes, providing a range of up to 300 kilometers—ideal for city commuting and short intercity trips. "These technologies are incredible!" Neli exclaimed.
Following the tour, the journalists learned that, besides automotive manufacturing, BYD is expanding into electronics, new energy, and rail transit, achieving a 57% compound annual growth rate across these four sectors. In 2023, BYD's revenue reached 602.3 billion yuan, ranking it 143rd on the Fortune Global 500 list.
Winda from Liputan6 shared, "I believe new energy vehicles will become mainstream soon, which is a positive change for humanity as green transportation benefits the environment."
Ricky from Kumparan added that BYD has promising market prospects in Indonesia, and he plans to recommend BYD cars to his friends. He hinted that he or his friends might soon be driving a BYD electric car themselves.
