Wang Dan, the chief director of TV broadcasting for the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, is a Chinese woman. From the Summer Olympics to the Winter Olympics, including the Youth Olympic Games, this is the ninth Olympics that she has been involved in.

Wang Dan, who graduated from the Beijing Film Academy, was one of the first Chinese employees to join OBS. She coincidentally submitted her resume to OBS in 2005 and was successfully hired. In 2008, the Beijing Olympics marked her first involvement in the television broadcast of a large-scale sports event. Since then, except for missing two times due to scheduling conflicts, Wang Dan has participated in every Summer and Winter Olympics, each time taking on a different role.

This Paris Olympics is the most important one in Wang Dan's career so far. She will be responsible for the overall venue management of all the dedicated broadcasting teams (including directors, equipment, technology, logistics support, and broadcaster service teams) for the opening ceremony and competition venues.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics breaks the routine by moving the venue from the stadium to a more open space, where athletes will take cruises along the Seine River and finally arrive at the Trocadéro Square. Such an innovative idea has attracted worldwide attention, but it also puts higher demands on the broadcast.

The coordination with the Organizing Committee and the opening ceremony team requires compliance with the rules at all levels, and the decrease in efficiency due to multi-layered communication is unavoidable. The opening ceremony has a long front, and from the perspective of venue operation, the relevant departments involved and the preparations in all aspects are even more extensive. How to coordinate the work within OBS and at all external levels is also a huge and complicated task, with unprecedented difficulty.

Since the Beijing 2008 Olympics, many Chinese people have begun to join the field of sports event broadcasting, and Wang Dan is definitely one of the best and the most persistent. She attributes the factors of success to several aspects. Firstly, it was the right time, and she just encountered the period of vigorous development of Chinese sports event broadcasting at the beginning. Secondly, working with many famous directors such as Zhang Yimou, she learned the importance of perseverance.

Wang Dan believes that while China has secured a foothold in the sports broadcasting arena, there is still room for greater influence. "It's not that others are more advanced, but rather there are differences in language, culture, background, production, concepts, and technology," she notes. "I am willing to share my experience and hope to improve the local production and output capabilities of our industry."

巴黎奥运会开幕式转播背后的“大管家”，她来自中国

2024年巴黎奥运会开幕式的OBS（奥林匹克转播服务公司）电视转播总负责人王丹是一名来自中国的女性。从夏季奥运会到冬季奥运会，包括青奥会，这已是她参与过的第九届奥运会。

从北京电影学院毕业的王丹，是第一批进入OBS工作的中国员工。她在2005年机缘巧合地向OBS投递了简历并顺利入职，2008年北京奥运会第一次涉及大型体育赛事电视转播。从那之后，除了两次因档期冲突错过外，王丹参加了每一届夏季和冬季奥运会，但每一次的角色都不同。

此次巴黎奥运会，是王丹职业生涯迄今为止岗位角色最重要的一次。她将负责开幕式以及竞赛场馆所有专属转播团队（包括导播、设备、技术、后勤保障、转播商服务团队）的场馆整体管理。

巴黎奥运会开幕式打破常规，将举办地从场馆移到更开放的场地，运动员乘坐游船经过塞纳河，并最终抵达特罗卡德罗广场。这样的创意令世人瞩目，但也对转播提出了更高的要求。

与组委会的协调，与开幕式团队的协调，需要遵守各层级的规矩，层层沟通导致效率下降也无可避免。开幕式战线拉得长，从场馆运行角度看，涉及的相关部门、各方面的准备工作也就更为庞大，如何协调OBS内部以及外部各层级的工作，也是一项庞杂的任务，难度前所未有。

从2008年北京奥运会开始，不少中国人开始加入到体育赛事转播领域，王丹绝对是做得最好的那批人，也是最为坚持的一个。她将成功的因素归结于几个方面，首先是恰逢其时，她在起步时刚好遇到2008年中国体育赛事转播蓬勃发展的时期；其次，与张艺谋等诸多著名导演共事，从他们身上学到坚持。

在王丹看来，中国如今在体育赛事转播中能够占据一席之地，但分量还不够重，“并不是别人有多先进，很大程度上是大家在语言、文化、背景、制作、观念、技术等方面有区别。我很愿意分享我的经验，希望能够提高我们行业的本土制作、输出能力”。
