On the morning of July 12th, the opening ceremony of the Guangdong Rare and Characteristic Plant Exhibition was held at the Yuntai Garden Fountain Plaza on Baiyun Mountain. This exhibition spans three days and features a total of 304 plant species, including 50 rare plants such as the Chinese cypress and Wangtian Tree.
Various rare and endangered plants made a dazzling appearance at the Guangdong Rare and Characteristic Plant Exhibition. Featured plants not only boast unique appearances and high ornamental value but also encompass a wide array of rare species. Coupled with engaging educational panels, the exhibition attracted many residents who stopped by for a visit.
There were also new plant varieties making their debut at the event: a new cultivar of orchids developed by the Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture, as well as newly discovered species like Metapetrocosmea alba and Lagerstroemia stenophylla, which were being showcased to the public for the first time.
In addition, the exhibition also featured several flower varieties developed by the research team of the Guangzhou Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture over more than ten years. These include the heat and humidity-resistant varieties of dwarf morning glory. It is reported that some of these showcased varieties are available for purchase at affordable prices for residents and visitors at convenient stations set up for the event.
On the day of the event, about 120 students and parents from Chao Tian School's Hong Kong and Macao class, Dongfengdong Road Primary School, and overseas Chinese families embarked on an exciting "Plant Exploration" journey together. Guided by study mentors, they delved deep into the fascinating world of the Yuntai Garden, where they observed plant forms, growth environments, and care requirements up close. They also experienced firsthand the ecological achievements of the Baiyun Mountain relocation and conservation demonstration area, aiming to further enhance cultural exchange and integration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
