To celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, the Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra (GSYO) will embark on a tour from July 20th to 27th, 2024. The orchestra will perform at the Hungarian State Opera and the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, using music to honor the friendship between the two nations.

As a prelude to the tour, GSYO will hold the "2023/2024 Season Closing Concert" at the Xinghai Concert Hall on July 19th. With Jing Huan, Music Director of GSYO, being the conductor, the orchestra will present a performance that blends Eastern and Western music, as well as the past and present styles.

In this concert, the GSYO will work with Li-Wei Qin and ZHANG Qiang to present the double concerto for cello and pipa, "Xiao Yao You (Wandering Beyond)," a work that embodies both ancient Chinese romanticism and contemporary Chinese spirit. The pipa's bright and crisp tones intertwine with the cello's deep and expansive sounds, creating a dialogue between Eastern and Western musical traditions.

ZHANG Qiang, who performed with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, in 2001, is looking forward to collaborating with the youthful GSYO: "I hope our performance will attract audiences both at home and abroad."

Li-Wei Qin remarked, "I am deeply moved by the sincerity and passion for music shown by the young musicians of GSYO. In terms of performance quality, GSYO sets a benchmark for youth orchestras in China. I am very excited to work with them again!"

In addition to "Xiao Yao You," GSYO will perform Chinese composer Qigang Chen's "Instants d'un Opéra de Pékin" Symphonic Prelude, "The Firebird" Suite by Stravinsky, and "Hungarian Rhapsody by Liszt," all of which are professional pieces performed by orchestras around the world.

On July 23rd, GSYO will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary with a concert at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, founded in 1884. On July 26th, GSYO will make its debut at the NCPA. This concert is hosted by the NCPA and is part of the "NCPA Roam about the Classics" series.

当琵琶遇上大提琴，看中西音乐如何相伴《逍遥游》

为庆祝中国与匈牙利建交75周年，广州青年交响乐团将于2024年7月20日至27日举行“广州青年交响乐团2024巡演”，在匈牙利国家歌剧院及北京国家大剧院举办两场音乐会，用音乐献礼两国友谊。

作为巡演的预热，广州青年交响乐团将于7月19日在星海音乐厅举行“2023/2024音乐季闭幕式音乐会”，由广青交音乐总监景焕执棒乐团，带来一场中西合璧、古今交汇的演出。

本场音乐会上，广青交将在音乐总监景焕的执棒下，携手琵琶演奏家张强与大提琴家秦立巍，联袂演绎一部兼具古代中国浪漫主义和当代中国精神风貌的作品——大提琴和琵琶双协奏曲《逍遥游》。琵琶的高亢利落与大提琴的低沉辽阔交织萦绕，依托具有西洋乐风的律动和唐宋古韵的音调，铺陈了一幅中西文明对话图景。

张强曾于2001年携手广州交响乐团在维也纳金色大厅进行演出。此次巡演与青春横溢的广青交合作，他充满期待：“希望与广青交的合作演出能够获得国内外听众的广泛关注。”

秦立巍表示：“广青交孩子们的真诚与对音乐的热爱非常打动我。在对演出质量的要求上，广青交是国内青年乐团的典范。我非常期待再次跟广青交合作！”

除了《逍遥游》之外，广青交还将演绎中国作曲家陈其钢的《京剧瞬间》、斯特拉文斯基的《火鸟》组曲和匈牙利作曲家李斯特的《匈牙利狂想曲》，均为世界各地职业乐团演奏的专业曲目。

据悉，7月23日，广青交将在匈牙利国家歌剧院用音乐庆祝中国与匈牙利建交75周年。匈牙利国家歌剧院位于布达佩斯，成立于1884年。7月26日，广青交还将首次亮相国家大剧院。该场音乐会由国家大剧院主办，被列入“2024国家大剧院漫步经典”系列。
