Recently, reporters interviewed both Ni Mingxuan, the President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), and Chen Yongqiang, the Co-founder of Arashi Vision. They shared insights into the opportunities that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has brought to the development of the university and the company.

Ni Mingxuan: HKUST (Guangzhou) cultivates talent needed by the country

Since its official establishment, HKUST (Guangzhou) has been leveraging the rich foundation of over 30 years of experience from HKUST and the vibrant economic, social, and technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area. It is rapidly constructing an education and technology talent platform with a global orientation.

During the interview, Ni Mingxuan expressed that the school's construction considers the disciplines needed by the country. HKUST (Guangzhou), being a new institution, emphasizes the development of interdisciplinary fields, which are deemed necessary by the country. Additionally, the aim is to nurture the talent required by the country. "The students we cultivate are firstly leading talent possessing exceptional abilities in the field of science and technology. Secondly, we hope to cultivate leading talent in industries and enterprises. In terms of industry cooperation, HKUST has numerous collaborations with Guangdong enterprises, using research outcomes to help solve some of the bottlenecks faced by enterprises. HKUST aims to make impactful contributions".

Qiu Dicong is a representative of the internationally oriented high-end innovative talent cultivated by HKUST (Guangzhou). He is a doctoral student in the field of Artificial Intelligence at the Information Hub of HKUST (Guangzhou) and the founder of Jacobi.ai. When he witnessed the surge in AI robotics, Qiu Dicong made the decision to return to China and came to Nansha, Guangzhou. This choice stemmed from seeing boundless opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Qiu Dicong selected Nansha as the starting point for his dream, stating, "My code is reaching for the stars with NASA, and my dream is taking root in the Greater Bay Area".

Chen Yongqiang: The GBA provides crucial support for business growth

With the rapid development of short videos both domestically and internationally, there is a growing demand for content creation. Correspondingly, technology products associated with this field are increasingly favored by consumer groups.

Chen Yongqiang, Co-founder of Arashi Vision, told reporters, "The trend of 'going global' with short videos is on the rise, especially in the emerging markets of Southeast Asia, which have shown remarkable growth in recent years. The mainstream consumer base in these markets tends to be younger and has a preference for water sports, mountain biking, and motorcycling". In response to this trend, Insta360, a brand under Arashi Vision, has established an international market team that is guided by user demands. This approach ensures that product development aligns closely with market needs, laying the foundation for the company's international expansion efforts".

"We are a company that has grown up in the GBA, where opportunities abound for business development," said Chen Yongqiang. "The GBA is a hub of technological innovation in China, especially in the field of research and development. The Shenzhen government provides significant support and preferential policies for companies' research and development efforts, including tax exemptions, financial subsidies, and favorable conditions for research facilities. This encourages companies to increase their investment in research and development and enhance their technological innovation capabilities".

近日，记者分别采访了香港科技大学（广州）校长倪明选和影石创新联合创始人陈永强，听他们讲述粤港澳大湾区给学校和企业的发展带来了哪些机遇。

倪明选：港科大培养国家需要的人才

港科大（广州）正式成立以来，凭借港科大办校30多年的深厚积淀以及大湾区经济社会和科技创新活力，正在加速建成面向世界的教育科技人才平台。

倪明选在接受采访时表示，学校建设考虑的是国家需要什么样的学科，港科大（广州）是一所新的学校，所以重点打造交叉融合学科，这是国家需要的学科；其次，希望培养出国家需要的人才。“我们培养的学生，第一是在科技领域有特殊的能力、领军型的人才。第二，希望培养在产业、企业界的领军型人才。在产业合作方面，港科大跟广东企业有很多对接，以科研成果助力解决一些企业被‘卡脖子’的问题，港科大要做有影响力的事。”

邱迪聪是港科大（广州）致力培养的国际化高端创新人才代表。他是港科大（广州）信息枢纽人工智能学域在读博士生、雅可比机器人创始人。当看到AI机器人风口时，邱迪聪选择回国，来到广州南沙。因为看到粤港澳大湾区机遇无限，邱迪聪选择南沙作为梦想起点，“我的代码在NASA上天，梦想在大湾区落地。”

陈永强：大湾区为企业成长提供重要支撑

当前海内外短视频发展迅猛，人们对于内容创作的需求在不断提升，与之配套的技术产品更是日益受到消费群体的热捧。

影石创新联合创始人陈永强告诉记者，“短视频出海”方兴未艾，特别是近年来在全球市场增长中较为亮眼的东南亚新兴市场，其主流消费群体偏年轻化，流行水上运动、山地骑行以及摩托车等运动。针对此，影石Insta360打造了一支国际化的市场团队，以用户需求为导向，让产品研发更加贴近市场，这是企业“出海”的基础。

“我们是一家在大湾区成长起来的企业，大湾区为企业的发展提供了一个充满机遇的环境。”陈永强表示，粤港澳大湾区是中国的科技创新高地，尤其是在研发领域，深圳政府为企业的研发投入给予了大量的支持和优惠政策，比如税收减免、资金补贴、研发场所优惠等，鼓励企业加大研发投入，提升技术创新能力。
