On May 26th, the Guangdong intercity rail network welcomed a new addition as the Guangfo South Ring Line and Foshan-Dongguan Intercity Railway officially put into operation. These lines, together with the existing Dongguan-Huizhou and Foshan-Zhaoqing lines, form an east-west artery spanning 258 kilometers with a speed of up to 200 kilometers per hour, which is the longest intercity railway in the Greater Bay Area. Connecting Huizhou, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhaoqing from east to west, it is of great significance in accelerating the formation of a one-hour life circle in the area.
Upon the operation of the "Four Lines", it now takes just 30 minutes to travel from Panyu district, Guangzhou to Foshan and Dongguan, and 60 minutes to reach Zhaoqing and Huizhou. At 12:08 on the 26th, the first train departed from Guangzhou Panyu station towards Zhaoqing and Huizhou. Many locals were enthusiastic about it, specifically coming to experience the transportation artery linking key cities in the Greater Bay Area.
Mr. Wang, a resident of Guangzhou, arrived early in the morning from Taojin to Panyu Station, eager to take the first train. "I arrived at 10:30, specifically to be part of the first train, and plan to go to Zhaoqing or Huizhou. Now, with intercity railways offering direct routes, it is extremely convenient!" Mr. Wang expressed his excitement as he prepared to board the first train.
On the first train, Ms. Wang embarked on a new intercity experience with her six-year-old son. "Today, I want to personally experience how long it takes from Guangzhou to Dongguan, so we can visit there on weekends," Ms. Wang said. She expressed that with the operation of the "Four Lines", linking five cities in the Greater Bay Area and various attractions, there are now many new options for leisure activities and dining outings.
After the "Four Lines" were connected and put into operation, several stations established mutual recognition for security checks with national railway stations. This allows for convenient transfers between nearby national railway and subway stations, facilitating further integration of multi-level rail transportation systems.
"There are a total of seven stations along the line where passengers can transfer to national railway and subway stations. Among them, passengers can transfer to national railways at Foshan West Station and Dongguan West Station through convenient transfer channels without any other security checks," explained the relevant person in charge from the Guangdong Intercity Railway Operation Co., Ltd.
"The minimum fare between stations on the Guangzhou-Zhaoqing and Guangzhou-Huizhou intercity lines is five yuan and the maximum one-way fare is 153 yuan," explained Zhang Qiao, Chief Engineer of the Car Service Center of Guangdong Intercity Railway Operation Co., Ltd. Both lines support the dual ticketing system of "12306 + Intercity Railway Bus-like Multiple Payment", making travel as convenient as taking the subway.

大湾区最长城际贯通,广州30分钟直通佛山东莞
5月26日,广东城际再添新成员,广佛南环、佛莞城际铁路正式投入运营,与已运营的莞惠、佛肇城际串联贯通,共同构筑了一条258公里、最高时速200公里的湾区东西向交通大动脉。这条动脉是大湾区最长的城际铁路,自东向西连接了惠州、东莞、广州、佛山、肇庆,对加速形成大湾区一小时生活圈具有重要意义。
“四线”贯通后,从广州番禺出发30分钟可直通佛山、东莞,60分钟抵达肇庆、惠州。26日12时08分,广州番禺站开出前往肇庆、惠州方向的首发车,不少街坊热情高涨,特地来体验连接粤港澳大湾区重要城市的交通动脉。
广州市民王先生一早就从淘金赶到番禺站,准备体验“四线”贯通的首班车。“我10时30分就到了,专门来打卡首班车,准备去肇庆或惠州。现在城际可以直达,非常方便!”即将乘坐首班车,王先生很激动。
首班车上,王女士带着六岁的儿子解锁城际新体验。“今天想要亲身体验一下广州到东莞用时多久,以后周末可以过去转一转。”王女士表示,广东城际“四线”贯通后,串联大湾区五个城市多个景点,以后“逛吃逛吃”有了很多新选择。
“四线”贯通运营后,多个站点与国铁车站实现安检互认,与邻近的国铁、地铁车站便捷换乘,多层次轨道交通进一步融合。
“全线与国铁、地铁实现换乘的车站分别有7个。其中,旅客在佛山西站及东莞西站可通过便捷换乘通道换乘国铁,无需二次安检。”广东城际运营公司相关负责人介绍。
“广肇、广惠城际站间最低票价为5元,单程最高票价为153元。”广东城际铁路运营公司车服中心主任工程师张巧介绍,两条线路均支持“12306+城际铁路公交化多元支付”双票务系统,旅客搭乘城际铁路将与地铁一样便捷,随买随进、随到随走。
