On May 24th, the 8th Drone World Congress 2024, International Low-altitude Economy and UAS Expo and the 9th Shenzhen International UAV Expo were held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

Nearly 500 domestic and foreign enterprises showcased over 4,000 new UAV systems at the Expo. The event boasts an indoor exhibition area spanning 35,000 square meters, as well as an outdoor exhibition space covering 30,000 square meters. At the same time, 16 UAV competitions and performances were also arranged.

eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) has emerged as a promising innovation for the development of low-altitude economies, rapidly advancing towards commercialization. As domestic air traffic management systems and airworthiness management regulations continue to improve in China, a group of eVTOL enterprises has swiftly risen to prominence. Over a dozen eVTOL products, including those from EHang, Xiaopeng, and AutoFlight, have been unveiled and test-flown. In addition to integrating into the ground transportation system, they can also be widely used in areas such as emergency rescue operations.

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is set to be one of the key applications for eVTOL in the future, with China emerging as the largest market for urban air transportation globally. It is projected that by 2040, the Chinese market size will account for 20%-25% of the global eVTOL market's total. According to forecasts from relevant agencies, the global eVTOL market is expected to reach 61.9 billion dollars by 2026 and soar to a staggering 15 trillion dollars by 2040.

Statistics show that as of the end of 2023, there were over 19,000 UAV enterprises in China, with an annual output value of 152 billion yuan. The total number of registered UAVs reached 1.267 million, with over 1,000 different models in mass production. In terms of civilian UAVs, approximately 3.17 million units were delivered, accumulating a total flight hours of 23.11 million. Among them, there are over 1,730 enterprises in the UAV industry chain in Shenzhen, with a production value of 96 billion yuan.

With the advancement of UAV technology and logistics networks, the scaling of logistics is expected to significantly reduce operating costs. By 2040, UAV deliveries could potentially account for 30% of the total daily parcel delivery. According to forecasts from relevant agencies, the domestic market size for UAVs in China is projected to exceed 200 billion yuan by 2024, with the UAV market for express logistics estimated to be around 30 billion yuan.

It is reported that this Expo features over 4,000 units of unmanned helicopters, fixed-wing drones, multirotor drones, unmanned airships (boats), hot air balloons, parawing UAVs, as well as accessory products from upstream and downstream industries, all making spectacular appearances.

eVTOL(电动垂直起降飞行器)成为低空经济发展的新起之秀,正在快速推进商业化。
