Recently, KPMG China held a series of seminars themed on "Going Global" in Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai, inviting many foreign partners to discuss and promote "going global" and "bringing in" of higher quality for relevant market entities.

Honson To, Chairman of KPMG’s Asia Pacific and China region, stated that China's business environment is continuously improving, making the Chinese market increasingly attractive to foreign enterprises. According to the Ministry of Commerce, the number of newly established foreign-invested enterprises in China grew by 20.7% year-on-year in the first quarter this year, demonstrating the confidence multinational companies have in the sustained and healthy development of Chinese economy. In addition, China's economy has deeply integrated into the global division of labor. Relevant enterprises should strategically balance both the Chinese and global markets, considering aspects such as livelihood and industrial chains to make "going global" more effective and sustainable.

During the seminar, KPMG China also released the industry insights report,"White Paper on Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises Going Global." The White Paper highlights that manufacturing in China has transitioned from labor-intensive industries to high-value-added advanced manufacturing, showcasing strong international competitiveness across multiple sectors and fields. Additionally, the White Paper analyzes the global paths of Chinese manufacturing enterprises, providing guidance on "global layout, localized operations".

Liao Li, China Lead Partner at KPMG's Global China Practice, emphasized that the trend of extending industrial and supply chains overseas through investments in factories or joint ventures is particularly prominent in industries like new energy and manufacturing.

In the context of global green and low-carbon transition, Chinese companies are also increasing their overseas investments in the new energy industry chain. More and more Chinese enterprises are investing in overseas solar and wind power projects, building new factories for new energy vehicles, power batteries, and components, and establishing R&D, sales, and after-sales service centers. They are also globally acquiring upstream resources such as lithium and cobalt.

Manuel Santillana, KPMG Spain Energy and Infrastructure M&A Partner, noted that Spain is rapidly transitioning to adopt a renewable energy-dominated structure. Spanish regulators are approving a series of measures and initiatives to support the growth of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency. This presents numerous investment opportunities for Chinese investors, including traditional wind and solar energy, as well as emerging energy sources like hydrogen and biomass.

Europe is one of the key markets for Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) going global. Chinese car manufacturers are moving beyond the single trade model of "Made in China, Sold Overseas" and gradually investing in local production facilities abroad. In France, the Chinese NEV industry chain has already started to take shape, especially in power batteries, which currently face excellent greenfield investment opportunities.
