On January 11th, a lively "village gala" to celebrate the new year kicked off in Hongshan Street, Huangpu District, Guangzhou.
It is reported that the event will last for two consecutive days. Folk artists, cultural elites, and art enthusiasts have come together to make performances. People of all ages, from the elderly to the young, will showcase their talents on the same stage. This all-inclusive audiovisual cultural feast allows the residents of Hongshan Street to feast their eyes and ears right at their doorstep.
The stage witnessed a diverse range of performances by people from various walks of life, including elderly art enthusiasts, young workers, kindergarten teachers, and students. The performances included professional troupes, village associations, and school original performances, showcasing a variety of art forms such as Chinese dance, folk songs, Cantonese opera, martial arts, lion dances, traditional musical instruments, and cheongsam fashion shows. The event attracted a large number of spectators who stopped to appreciate the performances and share the moments on social media.
At the event site, renowned Cantonese opera actors Chen Jianjun and Zhong Xianghong took the stage to sing the famous song "White Dragon Pass". The clear and melodious Cantonese opera vocals created a small climax on the spot, earning continuous applause from the audience. Representatives of Cantonese opera enthusiasts in Hongshan Street also performed on stage. Inspiring songs of progress filled the air, and the scene was filled with laughter and joy, reaching its climax with a collective sing-along.
"It's so glad to be able to enjoy such high-level performances right at our doorstep," said Huang Yufen, a resident of Hongshan Street. She has lived there for many years and deeply feels that the cultural activities here have become increasingly rich over the years. "The Shuangsha Railway Station opened last month, making our travel more convenient. Living here makes me feel very happy."
In recent years, Hongshan Street has been committed to organizing successful village galas. By combining traditional festivals such as the Worship of Zhurong (the fire deity and god of the southern seas), Dragon Boat Festival, and Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day), the Street have organized cultural activities that the people enjoy. The eye-catching IP of the first "Wife Festival" in Guangzhou's communities was also introduced.
The village Gala in Hongshan Street showcases the charm of villagers of different age groups through singing, dancing, Cantonese opera, and instrumental performances. Since last year, based on excellent traditional Chinese culture and Lingnan culture, Hongshan Street has organized a total of 160 sessions of public cultural training, benefiting over 7,000 people, including children of migrant workers and elderly people living alone.

广州黄埔红山“村晚”演绎村民幸福生活
1月11日,一场热闹的“村晚”新年活动在广州市黄埔区红山街拉开帷幕。
据悉,活动将连续举行两天,民间艺人、文化能人、文艺爱好者自编自导,老青幼同台献艺,这场全民参与的视听文化盛宴,让红山街的居民在“家门口”大饱眼福和耳福。
舞台上,老年文艺爱好者、街道青年职工、幼儿园师生惊艳亮相,专业院团、村里社团、学校原创同台献艺,中国舞、民歌、粤剧、武术、醒狮、传统乐器、旗袍T台秀轮番上演,不少路人驻足观赏,记录精彩瞬间分享至“朋友圈”。
活动现场,粤剧名伶陈剑军、钟向红登台献唱《白龙关》,清亮的粤剧嗓音带来现场小高潮,引起众多观众连连鼓掌,同时登台演出的还有街道粤剧迷代表。一首首催人奋进的歌曲唱响了红山街蓬勃的精神面貌,现场欢声笑语不断,高潮时刻更有全场合唱。
“能在家门口就欣赏到这么高水平的演出,非常开心。”红山街道居民黄玉芬说,她在红山街生活这么多年,深刻感受到这些年这里的文化活动越来越丰富,“上个月地铁双沙站也开通了,我们出行也更方便了,我感到非常幸福”。
近年来,红山街道坚持办好“村晚”,结合波罗诞、端午、“乞巧节”等传统节日,组织开展人民群众喜闻乐见的文艺活动,还推出了广州首个社区“媳妇节”这一亮眼IP。
红山“村晚”以歌舞、粤曲、演奏等形式展现出不同年龄段村民的风采。去年以来,红山街道立足中华优秀传统文化和岭南文化,2023年累计举办公益文化培训160班次,惠及外来务工人员子女、孤寡老人等群体超过7000人次。
