On December 17th, 2023, the dynamic 2023 Vibrant Bay Area E-sports Competition, featuring the Honor of Kings collegiate invitational, concluded at Zengcheng Square in Guangzhou. After intense online qualifiers and two days of fierce offline competition, the team from Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts emerged victorious, securing the championship.
In the semifinals, the team from Communication University of China, Nanjing defeated Guangzhou Baiyun Technician College of Business with a convincing 3-0, securing their spot in the finals. Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts faced a tough situation, initially trailing 0-2 against Guangzhou Huali Science and Technology Vocational College but eventually staged a comeback, winning 3-2 to advance.
The final showdown between Communication University of China, Nanjing and Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts delivered an exciting and spectacular clash. The Guangdong team successfully "tower-dived" in the first round within five minutes, taking an early lead. They maintained control throughout the match, swiftly securing two more rounds to win the final with a commanding 3-0 score against Communication University of China, Nanjing.
Despite the chilly weather at the finals, enthusiastic spectators cheered for the competing teams. Lai, a student from the Huali College at Guangdong University of Technology, and Liu, another student from the same college, arrived at the venue early. They expressed being dedicated fans of Honor of Kings and said that they wouldn't miss the opportunity to watch the live competition. Lai enthusiastically commented, "The players' performance is excellent! We hope that in the future, Zengcheng can host more events like this. We are very excited, to the point that we don't even feel the cold."
The competition aimed to Ignite the passion of university students in esports, enhance the influence of esports culture in Zengcheng, and contribute to Guangzhou’s ambition of positioning itself as a "World Esports City". With the successful hosting of the 2023 Vitality Bay Area Esports competition, Zengcheng is poised to leverage this momentum to gather esports industry players, improve the esports industry chain, and stimulate urban innovation.
In addition, Zengcheng remains focused on high-quality development, accelerating the construction of a sports powerhouse. In line with this, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Women's Half Marathon is set to kick off on January 1st, 2024, in Zengcheng. This event, certified by the Chinese Athletics Association as an A-class women's half marathon, marks the first marathon women's half marathon nationwide.

王者争霸,荣耀相伴!湾区电竞盛宴于增城落幕
12月17日,2023活力湾区电子竞技比赛王者荣耀高校邀请赛在广州市增城区增城广场完美落下帷幕。历经线上赛的选拔,以及两天线下赛的激烈比拼,广东省外语艺术职业学院战队从一众高校战队中脱颖而出,捧得冠军。
在之前举行的半决赛中,南京传媒学院战队以3比0击败广州市白云工商技师学院战队,率先抢得一张决赛门票;广东省外语艺术职业学院战队则在一度以0比2落后的情况下,最终以3比2逆转广州华立科技职业学院战队晋级。
南京传媒学院战队和广东省外语艺术职业学院战队在决赛中会师,带来了一场精彩纷呈的巅峰对决。广东省外语艺术职业战队在首局仅耗时五分钟便“偷塔”成功,先下一城。随后他们牢牢掌握着比赛的主动,很快便再下两局,以3比0的大比分战胜南京传媒学院战队。
决赛日当天天气寒冷,但现场依旧有不少热情的观众为参赛战队助威。来自广东工业大学华立学院的黎同学和刘同学早早来到现场,他们表示自己是王者荣耀的忠实粉丝,所以不会错过现场观赛的机会。“选手们的表现太好了!希望在未来增城能有更多这样的赛事,我们看得非常兴奋,甚至都感觉不到冷了。”黎同学激动地说。
据悉,本次比赛旨在激发广大高校学生参与电子竞技的热情,提升增城电竞文化的影响力,为广州市加速打造“世界电竞名城”的目标添砖加瓦。随着2023活力湾区电竞竞技比赛的完美举办,增城区将借势聚能聚集一众电竞产业、完善电竞产业链条,激发城市创新动力。
与此同时,增城将继续聚焦高质量发展主线,加快推进体育强区建设。据悉,粤港澳大湾区女子半程马拉松将于2024年1月1日在增城活力开赛。这是华南地区首场由中国田径协会认证的A类女子半程马拉松赛,也是目前以粤港澳大湾区定位的首场马拉松赛,还是全国规模最大的女子半程马拉松赛。
