Guangzhou's performing market shines brightly with artistic prowess
Throughout 2023, Guangzhou's performing market has been experiencing a strong revival with great popularity.
According to statistics, in the first three quarters of the year, Guangzhou hosted 105 commercial performances with an audience capacity of over 5,000 people. Various kinds of performances in Guangzhou have attracted more than 23 million attendees, generating a box office revenue of nearly 5 billion yuan. Huo Jianhua, General Manager of the Guangzhou Opera House, revealed that approximately 380 performances have been staged in the Guangzhou Opera House this year, with an average occupancy rate of 75%, which has far exceeded that of 2021 and 2022 and is approaching the level of 2019.
In the final month of 2023, Guangzhou's performing market continues to dazzle with artistic brilliance.
From December 6th to 30th, performances of the 15th Guangdong Arts Festival outstanding works will be staged in Guangzhou, presenting 14 excellent Guangdong productions including the dance drama "Wing Chun", the Lei opera "Leading the Troops", the Cantonese opera "The Mad Pheonix" and the ballet production "The Legend of the White Snake".
From December 7th to 9th, the box office myth of Russian musicals, "Anna Karenina", will take the stage at the Guangzhou Opera House to captivate a multitude of audience members.
On December 23rd, Guangzhou will launch the lively "The Popular Movies Greater Bay Area Concert 2023" featuring over ten sub-events such as the "Youth Music Culture" Concert and the Storm Electronic Music Festival, igniting a city-wide "music frenzy". Starting from late October, other six sub-events including the Ersha Island Outdoor Music Season and the Guangzhou Jazz Festival have been held successively, with the former attracting a total participation of nearly 500,000 people.
Creating platforms to attract artistic gems worldwide
Against this backdrop, the 2023 Guangzhou Performing Arts Expo has garnered significant attention in the industry. Artists from 10 countries and regions, as well as over 100 performing arts institutions including China's central troupes, state-owned cultural troupes, performing arts groups, and entertainment companies, have contributed nearly a thousand productions to the event.
During the launch and promotion conference of the Fair, participating organizations showcased a plethora of outstanding productions from at home and abroad, such as the Chinese original musical "Anime Boy", the dance drama "Confucius" and the opera "Le Nozze di Figaro". This signifies that audiences in Guangzhou will have an opportunity to enjoy more high-quality domestic and international performances right at their doorstep.
As the year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, a forum was hosted in conjunction with the Fair, inviting notable figures to deliver keynote speeches. 12月13日,2023广州演艺交易会在广州大剧院闭幕,最终成交额达到3.2亿元。这意味着,接下来将有更多国内外的优质演艺作品登陆广州舞台。
2023广州演艺交易会的背后,是广州火热的演出市场。在政府近日出台的相关政策扶持下,广州朝着打造“国际演艺中心”的目标大踏步迈进。
广州演艺市场“艺”力四射
今年的广州演艺市场强势复苏、持续火热。
据统计,前三季度广州举办5000人以上营业性演出105场,各类演出吸引观演人次超过2300万,票房收入近50亿元。广州大剧院总经理霍建华透露,今年该剧院为观众带来了大约380场演出,平均上座率在75%,票房远远超过2021年和2022年,基本接近于2019年的水平。
在今年最后一个月,广州演艺市场继续“艺”力四射:
12月6日-30日,第十五届广东省艺术节优秀剧目展演走进广州,带来舞剧《咏春》、雷剧《挂帅》、粤剧《南海十三郎》、芭蕾舞剧《白蛇传》等14部广东舞台佳作。
12月7日-9日,俄罗斯音乐剧“票房神话”《安娜·卡列尼娜》登陆广州大剧院舞台,吸引众多观众前去欣赏。
12月23日,广州策划推出的“湾区音乐汇”将热闹开幕,举办粤港澳大湾区青少年交响音乐会、风暴电音节等十多项子活动,掀起全城“音乐潮”。从10月下旬开始,二沙岛户外音乐季、广州爵士音乐节等6个子活动已陆续亮相,其中,二沙岛户外音乐季共近50万人次参与。
搭建平台引进各国艺术精品
在此背景下,2023广州演艺交易会备受业内关注。来自10个国家和地区的艺术家,以及来自国家中直院团、各省市国有文艺院团、演艺集团、演艺公司等100多家演艺机构的近千部剧目参会。
在本次交易会的重磅发布推介会上,参会机构纷纷推介了中文原创音乐剧《动漫少年》、舞剧《孔子》、剧目《费加罗的婚礼》等国内外众多优秀剧目。这意味着,广州观众在“家门口”便能欣赏到更多国内外的优质演艺作品。
今年是共建“一带一路”倡议提出10周年。本届交易会还特别举办座谈会,邀请俄罗斯驻穗领事馆领事玛丽娜、上海文广演艺总裁马晨骋、美国百老汇巨星布拉德·里特、澳门音乐剧协会会长温小演、法国著名音乐剧表演艺术家洛朗·班、新加坡华夏文化促进会董事长林璒利等作主题发言,通过搭建优秀中华文化走出国门的桥梁,引进世界经典艺术走进中国,构建国内国际双循环的演艺共同体,在文明交流互鉴中与世界共享人类艺术精品。
