On November 22nd, the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics released a summary of the economic performance for the first ten months of the year.

Sustained improvement in industrial production

In the period from January to October, the province’s large-scale industrial added value reached 3.33 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 3.6%. The growth rate accelerated by 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous three quarters, marking a continuous six-month upswing.

In terms of sectors, the manufacturing sector saw a 3.2% increase in added value with a rise of 0.6 percentage points in growth. The electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry grew by 10.5% with an increase of 0.1 percentage points in growth, while the mining industry experienced a 1.1% decline.

Examining specific industries, the overall growth rate for major categories in the province was 61.5%. Key sectors like automobile manufacturing, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing, and computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing grew by 7.6%, 8.5%, and 2.1%, with an increase of 0.2, 0.4, and 1.1 percentage points in growth, respectively. These three pillars collectively contributed to an increase of 1.9 percentage points in industrial growth.

Looking at specific products, there were notable increases in the production of new energy vehicles (88.7% growth), integrated circuits (19.7% growth), and optoelectronic devices (16.6% growth). In October, the added value of large-scale industries grew by 5.7%, increasing by 1.1 percentage points compared to September, marking the highest monthly growth rate in the past six months.

Stable growth in market sales

From January to October, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in the province amounted to 3.93 trillion yuan, showing a 5.3% year-on-year increase. Urban retail sales increased by 4.8%, while rural retail sales surged by 8.9%. Breaking it down by consumption categories, there was a 3.3% growth in retail sales of goods and a substantial 23.2% increase in catering revenue.

Among retail sales by enterprises above a certain size, cosmetic products, sports and entertainment goods, and communication equipment maintained double-digit growth, growing by 14.2%, 11.4%, and 15.4%, respectively. Meanwhile, furniture, household appliances, and audio-visual equipment saw retail sales increase by 4.4%, 3.0%. Retail sales of new energy vehicles experienced a notable growth of 28.4%, accelerating by 0.8 percentage points compared to the preceding three quarters.

High-level growth in passenger transport market

From January to October, the province experienced a 3.9% year-on-year growth in freight volume, accelerating by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous three quarters. Notably, civil aviation and waterway freight volumes increased by 13.2% and 7.9% respectively. Cargo turnover increased by 3.6%, with freight turnover of civil aviation and pipeline growing by 9.7% and 6.1% respectively. Port cargo throughput increased by 8.0%, and container throughput increased by 1.6%.

In terms of passenger transportation, the province saw a significant 66.9% year-on-year growth from January to October. Specifically, railway, waterway, and civil aviation passenger volumes increased by 93.9%, 222.0%, and 123.2% respectively. Passenger turnover increased by 106.1%, with railway, waterway, and civil aviation growing by 82.6%, 280.4%, and 136.9% respectively.

Continued momentum in industrial investment

From January to October, the province witnessed a 2.7% year-on-year growth in fixed asset investment. Breaking it down by sectors, industrial investment showed a substantial increase of 23.3%, with mining industry investment surging by 82.0% and manufacturing industry investment growing by 19.6%. Investments in new driving forces continued to expand, with high-tech manufacturing and advanced manufacturing investments increasing by 20.6% and 17.5% respectively.

Overall stability in consumer prices

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for residents in the province rose by 0.6% year-on-year in the first ten months, remaining consistent with the increase from January to September. In October, the CPI increased by 0.2%, showing a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to September.

11月22日,广东省统计局公布了1月-10月经济运行简况。

工业生产持续向好

1月-10月,全省规模以上工业增加值3.33万亿元,同比增长3.6%,增速比前三季度加快0.5个百分点,连续六个月回升。

分门类看,制造业增加值增长3.2%,增速提高0.6个百分点;电力、热力、燃气及水生产和供应业增长10.5%,增速提高0.1个百分点;采矿业下降1.1%。

分行业看,全省在产的行业大类增长面61.5%。汽车制造业,电气机械和器材制造业,计算机、通信和其他电子设备制造业三大支柱产业分别增长7.6%、8.5%和2.1%,增速比前三季度分别提高0.2个、0.4个和1.1个百分点,合计拉动规模以上工业增长1.9个百分点。

分产品看,新能源汽车、集成电路、光电子器件产品产量分别增长88.7%、19.7%、16.6%。10月当月,规模以上工业增加值增长5.7%,增速比9月加快1.1个百分点,创下半年月度增速新高。

市场销售稳定增长

1月-10月,全省社会消费品零售总额3.93万亿元,同比增长5.3%。按经营单位所在地分,城镇消费品零售额增长4.8%,乡村消费品零售额增长8.9%。按消费形态分,商品零售额增长3.3%,餐饮收入增长23.2%。

限额以上单位商品零售中,化妆品类,体育、娱乐用品类,通讯器材类零售额保持两位数增长,分别增长14.2%、11.4%、15.4%;家具类,家用电器和音像器材类商品零售额分别增长4.4%、3.0%。新能源汽车零售额增长28.4%,增速比前三季度加快0.8个百分点。

客运市场高位增长

1月-10月,全省货运量同比增长3.9%,增速比前三季度加快0.1个百分点,其中,民航、水路货运量分别增长13.2%、7.9%。货物周转量增长3.6%,其中,民航、管道完成周转量分别增长9.7%、6.1%。港口货物吞吐量增长8.0%,集装箱吞吐量增长1.6%。

1月-10月,全省客运量同比增长66.9%,其中,铁路、水路、民航客运量分别增长93.9%、222.0%和123.2%。旅客周转量增长106.1%,其中,铁路、水路和民航分别增长82.6%、280.4%和136.9%。

工业投资持续发力

1月-10月,全省固定资产投资同比增长2.7%。分领域看,工业投资增长23.3%,其中,采矿业投资增长82.0%,制造业投资增长19.6%。新动能投资规模不断扩大,高技术制造业、先进制造业投资分别增长20.6%、17.5%。

居民消费价格总体稳定

1-10月,全省居民消费价格指数(CPI)同比上涨0.6%,涨幅与1-9月持平;10月当月,全省CPI上涨0.2%,涨幅比9月回落0.2个百分点。
