Dong Wanxu, CEO of TE Bahnoperator GmbH (an organization handling and brokerage of international rail freight transports), spoke to Yangcheng Evening News reporters at his office in Duisburg, Germany, stating, "We were among the first domestic freight forwarding companies to engage in China-Europe Railway Express operations. As early as 10 years ago, we provided services for the 'Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe' route and became their client, later establishing our own train operation company here in Duisburg." He emphasized the close connection between the company's growth and the evolution of China-Europe Railway Express.
As a trailblazer in China-Europe rail logistics, Dong Wanxu keenly recognized the potential of international rail transport. On March 19, 2011, the inaugural China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) departed from Chongqing to Duisburg, Germany. This marked the beginning of the China-Europe Railway Express era, a period that Dong Wanxu perceived as full of boundless possibilities. Over the past decade and more, with the continuous expansion of China-Europe Railway Express, the cross-Eurasian international rail freight forwarding industry has entered a "golden age."
"Our clients come from a variety of sectors, including international manufacturers, suppliers, logistics companies, and numerous e-commerce firms," Dong Wanxu noted. The China-Europe Railway Express offers a balance between sea and air transport in terms of delivery time. Currently, the goods transported via the trains span various categories, including industrial, fast-moving consumer goods, frozen food, home and apparel, and high-tech electronics. These products, to varying degrees, require reliability, stability, and punctuality in international transportation, making the China-Europe Railway Express their preferred choice.
"At the peak of the company's growth, we managed to operate over 1,500 China-Europe Railway Express annually, with a significant portion shuttling between Xi'an and other destinations," Dong Wanxu stated. At present, the dual development of its freight forwarding and train operation businesses is mutually reinforcing. The company is also actively engaging in the "Belt and Road Initiative", contributing to the trade bridge connecting China and Europe.
"Port of Duisburg is Germany's largest and most versatile inland port, boasting excellent geographical and functional advantages. It seamlessly interfaces with China-Europe Railway Express, extending coverage across the entire European continent. It's this advantage that enables us to gather goods from all over Europe to Germany and then transport them to China. Alternatively, we can transport goods from China to Duisburg and further distribute them across Germany and even all of Europe," Dong Wanxu highlighted.
With the development of cross-border e-commerce, diverse transportation needs have emerged. As a practitioner in the China-Europe Railway Express industry, Dong Wanxu envisions leading his team to further ensure the timeliness of train operations, providing top-tier services for cross-border e-commerce users.

“我们是国内最早一批参与中欧班列业务的货代型公司,早在10年前,我们就已经为当时的‘渝新欧’提供服务并成为他们的客户,后来又来到杜伊斯堡成立班列运营公司。”在位于德国杜伊斯堡内河港的办公室,德国跨欧亚班列运营有限公司总经理董万旭在接受羊城晚报记者采访时表示,公司业务的扩展与中欧班列的发展息息相关。
作为中欧班列物流的“先锋”,嗅觉敏锐的董万旭早早就认识到了国际铁路联运的潜力。2011年3月19日,首列中欧班列(渝新欧)由重庆开往德国杜伊斯堡。自此,中欧班列拉开了起跑步伐,这更让董万旭感受到了中欧班列的无限可能性,此后十余年时间,伴随着中欧班列不断发展,跨欧亚国际铁路货代业务也迎来“黄金时代”。
“我们的客户是各式各样的,有国际化的生产制造和供应商,有国际物流公司,也有不少电商公司。”董万旭指出,中欧班列是介于海运和空运中间的一个时效性运输产品,目前选择中欧班列的货物品种,主要包括了工业类,快消品类,食品冷链类,家居服装类,以及高科技的电子产品类,这些产品都不同程度对国际运输的时效性、稳定性和可靠性有需求,这也是他们选择使用中欧班列最主要的原因。
“我们班列公司业务发展到最高峰的时候,一年自主运营的中欧班列达到了1500多列,光从西安往返的就有1000列。”董万旭表示,目前,公司的货代业务和班列运营业务双向发展,相互促进,更积极地参与到了“一带一路”建设中,为连接中国和欧洲的贸易桥梁添砖加瓦。
“杜伊斯堡港是德国规模最大、功能最全的一个内河港,它具有很强的区位优势和功能优势,能够与中欧班列形成一个很好的衔接,进而覆盖到整个欧洲,也正是依托这种优势,我们得以把全欧洲的货物集结到德国,再从德国运到中国,或者是从中国运到杜伊斯堡以后,再分拨到全德国乃至全欧。”董万旭指出,随着跨境电商的发展,货物运输的需求也更加多样化,作为中欧班列的从业者,未来,自己将带领团队进一步保障中欧班列运营的时效性,为跨境电商用户提供更优质的服务。
