On August 22nd, a brief report on the economic performance of Guangdong province from January to July 2023 was released by the Guangdong Bureau of Statistics. According to the data, the province remains on its path to economic recovery.
A slight recovery was witnessed in industrial production, with key industries recovering steadily. From January to July, the added value of industries above the provincial scale recorded 2.26 trillion RMB, up by 2.6% year on year, 0.1 percentage points higher than the first half of 2023. By industry, the added value of the electricity and heat production and supply industry increased by 11.6%, that of petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries increased by 11.9%, while that of gas production and supply industry and automobile manufacturing industry increased by 23.6% and 8.9% respectively. By product, the output of new energy vehicles, integrated circuits, program-controlled switches and solar cells increased by 105.2%, 26.3%, 14.5% and 9.5%, respectively.
The scale of investment in fixed assets continued to expand, with the rapid growth of investment in new drivers. From January to July, investment in fixed assets in Guangdong grew by 3.9% year-on-year. Among them, investment in the mining industry and manufacturing industry increased by 115.0% and 18.3% respectively. Investment in electricity and heat production and supply industry grew by 29.5%, while that in gas production and supply industry grew by 57.3%. Investment in real estate development dropped by 7.8%, while the total sales of commercial housing decreased by 2.8%.
Market sales grew steadily, with online consumption as the main booster. From January to July, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in Guangdong reached 2.71 trillion RMB, up by 6.4% year on year. By consumption pattern, the retail sales of products and the income of catering increased by 4.1% and 27.0%, respectively, among which the categories of grain and oil, food, tobacco and alcohol, cosmetics, and communication equipment grew by 11.0%, 15.3%, 14.1%, and 13.3% respectively.
Transportation continues its recovery, with passenger transport demonstrating a momentum of rapid growth. From January to July, the volume of goods transported in the province increased by 3.7% year-on-year, among which the cargo volume of railways and civil aviation increased by 4.2% and 8.4%, respectively. The cargo turnover increased by 4.5%, with that of civil aviation increased by 6.4%. The port cargo throughput rose by 7.6%, while the container throughput dropped by 0.7%. The volume of passenger transport increased by 67.4%, with that of railways, waterways and civil aviation grew by 93.5%, 320.9% and 117.4%, respectively. The passenger turnover increased by 100.5%.

8月22日,广东省统计局发布了1-7月广东经济运行简况。从数据看,全省经济发展延续恢复态势。
工业生产小幅回升,重点行业稳定恢复。1-7月,全省规模以上工业增加值2.26万亿元,同比增长2.6%,增幅比上半年提高0.1个百分点。分行业看,电力、热力生产和供应业增加值增长11.6%,石油、煤炭及其他燃料加工业增长11.9%,燃气生产和供应业增长23.6%,汽车制造业增长8.9%。分产品看,新能源汽车、集成电路、程控交换机、太阳能电池产品产量分别增长105.2%、26.3%、14.5%、9.5%。
固定资产投资规模继续扩大,新动能投资快速增长。1-7月,全省固定资产投资同比增长3.9%。其中,采矿业投资增长115.0%,制造业投资增长18.3%。电力、热力生产和供应业投资增长29.5%,燃气生产和供应业增长57.3%,房地产开发投资下降7.8%,商品房销售面积下降2.8%。
市场销售平稳增长,线上消费拉动明显。1-7月,全省社会消费品零售总额2.71万亿元,同比增长6.4%。按消费形态分,商品零售额增长4.1%,餐饮收入增长27.0%。其中,粮油、食品类,烟酒类,化妆品类,通讯器材类分别增长11.0%、15.3%、14.1%、13.3%。
交通运输持续恢复,客运保持快速增长势头。1-7月,全省货运量同比增长3.7%,其中,铁路、民航货运量分别增长4.2%、8.4%。货物周转量增长4.5%,其中,民航周转量增长6.4%。港口货物吞吐量增长7.6%,港口集装箱吞吐量下降0.7%。客运量增长67.4%,其中,铁路、水路、民航客运量分别增长93.5%、320.9%和117.4%。旅客周转量增长100.5%。
