Guangdong's job fair for urgently needed and skilled medical talents held at Southern Medical University

On March 28th, the 2026 Guangdong Provincial Series of Job Fair Activities for Graduates from Regular Higher Education Institutions—Special Session for Urgently Needed and Skilled Medical Talents, hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and undertaken by Southern Medical University, was held in Guangzhou. A total of 330 employers from 18 provinces and municipalities in China offered 1,755 positions to recruit talent on site, with total demand exceeding 10,000 candidates.

Graduates from nearly 200 universities nationwide moved between recruitment booths with resumes in hand. During on-site interviews, reporters found that unlike the previous "blind mass applications," many medical students are now making more rational and cautious career choices. From opportunities in first-tier cities to the stability and sense of belonging offered by grassroots positions, employment preferences have become more diverse and practical. Some respondents said that compared with online job hunting, offline job fairs bridge information gaps, bring higher efficiency, and make face-to-face communication more direct and reassuring.

Meanwhile, employers are also redefining their criteria for talent. With the rapid development of hospitals in recent years, the overall demand for talent has continued to grow, with more flexible academic requirements. Positions are open not only to PhD holders, but also to master's graduates and, in some cases, bachelor's degree holders. While professional expertise remains essential, hospitals are placing increasing emphasis on candidates' foreign language proficiency and global perspective. Enterprises maintain a certain degree of flexibility regarding academic credentials but attach greater importance to comprehensive abilities including professional alignment, logical thinking, and teamwork.

This special session also set up an AI interview experience zone and a career experience zone for medical exploration, helping graduates to enhance their interview skills and gain a more intuitive understanding of job responsibilities and career requirements while job hunting. Graduates can also receive one-on-one guidance such as resume revision and career planning at the on-site consultation zone.
