The spring recruitment season has long been a window into industrial vitality. A recent report released by Chinese recruitment portal Zhaopin shows that, as China's 15th Five-Year Plan places high-level sci-tech self-reliance at the forefront of national strategy, demand for talent in eight emerging industries, including robotics and new materials, is experiencing explosive growth. Highly educated and interdisciplinary technical talent is becoming the most sought-after resource in the job market.

The "acceleration" in talent demand is most evident: job postings in the robotics sector jumped 36.6% year-on-year, while the new materials sector recorded a 32.6% increase, both outpacing other sectors. Among them, job postings for polymer materials engineers soared by over 110%. Manufacturing and R&D technical roles together accounted for 42% of total demand. Notably, job postings for automotive manufacturing/design engineers topped the list with a 32.8% growth rate, driven by the urgent need for iteration and upgrading in the new energy vehicle industry.
The geographic distribution of the talent war reveals a pattern of "several leading hubs and multiple emerging regions". Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen remain major magnets for new quality talent, while Suzhou has stood out with a 67.2% year-on-year increase in positions related to advanced materials. Cities such as Chengdu, Wuhan, and Wuhu are also carving out their own niches, together forming a new landscape of coordinated regional development.

Employers clearly favor highly educated candidates with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) backgrounds and interdisciplinary expertise. In R&D technical roles, 76.9% of positions require candidates with a bachelor's degree or above. Notably, the aerospace and marine engineering sectors have the highest requirements for advanced degrees, with 34% of employees holding master's or doctoral degrees. Mechanical and electrical engineering serve as the backbone of a wide range of industries, while cross-disciplinary professionals with both AI algorithm expertise and automotive industry experience are emerging as core resources that companies compete for, offering premium salaries.
At its core, this talent war is an inevitable outcome of industrial upgrading. For companies, the key lies in targeted talent acquisition and building interdisciplinary talent teams. For job seekers, deepening expertise in core technologies and enhancing interdisciplinary capabilities are essential to achieving career advancement amid this wave of fierce competition.
人才争夺战白热化!报告称机器人行业职位数同比激增36.6%
