"Had I known it would be this convenient, I should have come back long ago!" On hersecond day after surgery at Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital (hereinafter referred to as the Hospital), Ms. Chen could barely stop smiling as she walked down the hospital corridor with the aid of a walker. The 75-year-old woman has been living in Australia for many years and had faced a one-year waiting list for surgery for severe knee pain there. However, after returning to China, she received a robot-assisted biological total knee replacement in just one day, which significantly relieved her pain. This case marked the first implantation of a domestically developed biological total knee replacement in South China.

To offer Ms. Chen cutting-edge treatment aligned with international standards, Professor Xu Changpeng's team from the Department of Bone and Joint Surgery at the Hospital decided to perform a robot-assisted biological total knee replacement. This was not an ordinary knee replacement, but the first robot-assisted biological total knee replacement in South China performed on a patient with an extremely high body mass index. The achievement represents a major technical breakthrough in complex knee replacement surgery in South China, marking a transition from intelligent replacements to biointegration.


"I'll tell my friends in Australia that if they have knee pain, they should just fly here and get it treated!" Ms. Chen said excitedly. She did not expect to receive world-class technological treatment and such efficient medical service. According to Director Xu Changpeng, the biological prosthesis uses cementless fixation, avoiding "cement disease" associated with traditional cemented joint replacement, such as bone cement degradation and loosening. Combined with the precision of robotic implantation technology, this approach can significantly extend the lifespan of the implant.

为让陈阿姨享受到与国际同步的前沿治疗,省二医关节骨一科许长鹏教授团队决定为其实施机器人辅助下生物型全膝关节置换术。这并非一次普通的关节置换,而是华南地区首例在手术机器人辅助下,为超高体重指数(BMI)患者实施的国产生物型全膝关节置换术,标志着华南地区在复杂膝关节置换领域实现了从“人工智换”到“生物融合”的高难度技术突破。
“我回去要告诉我朋友,膝盖疼别忍着,打个飞的来‘修一修’!”陈阿姨兴奋地说,她没想到既能享受到世界前沿技术,又能体验到如此高效的医疗服务。据许长鹏主任介绍,生物型假体无需依赖骨水泥固定,避免了传统手术中骨水泥老化、松动引发的“骨水泥病”,结合机器人精准植入技术,患者术后假体使用寿命将大幅提升。
