During this year's National Day Golden Week, the "Rediscovery: Bridge Canton + Digital Culture Creative Expo" in Guangzhou opened to the public and will run until October 31st.

The exhibition, held at 1906 Young Town Technology Plaza, Liwan District, Guangzhou, offers a fresh perspective on the integration of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and digital technology. It has attracted a large number of culture enthusiasts during the holiday.

The theme of the exhibition, "Rediscovery", seeks to revive fading ICH crafts and reintroduce them to contemporary life. By stripping away the weight of history, the event presents outstanding traditional culture in a minimalist modern format, highlighting how the collision of technology and innovation breathes new life into ancient crafts.

The exhibition features several acclaimed works, including award-winning photography works paying tribute to Cantonese Opera and its female artists, creative skateboards featuring Cantonese Opera mask designs that made its debut at the Paris Olympics, and six innovative ICH-themed videos showcased at Milan Design Week. These works offer an eye-opening experience for visitors.

Breaking the boundaries of traditional exhibitions, the event adopts a unique "light gallery" concept under the philosophy that "everything can be exhibited", promoting the spread and innovation of Cantonese culture. Interactive ICH activities, such as lacquer fan-making and Cantonese Opera mask painting, have drawn in many families and young participants.

The rise of "Guochao" (Chinese fashion trend) has injected new vitality into the preservation and dissemination of ICH. In the fusion of modern technology and traditional culture, more young people are now eager to explore and experience the charm of ICH through innovative methods. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), the exhibition transcends the limits of time and space, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the intricacies of ICH crafts.

Curator Lin Yuhou expressed that the exhibition retraced the art and techniques of cultural heritage, blending digital technology with traditional culture. Through the use of VR, AR, digital art, and other creative technologies, it broke the constraints of time and space, offering an immersive interactive experience where visitors can personally engage with the unique allure of ICH.
