The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday saw a surge in tourism in Guangdong Province, with a record 21.357 million visitors, a significant 13.6% increase from the figures in 2019. With culinary tourism increasingly becoming popular in cultural and tourism consumption, Guangdong saw a new characteristic in its cultural and tourism landscape, as tourists flock to experience the rich flavors of traditional Cantonese, Chaoshan, and Hakka cuisines, as well as the iconic Cantonese dim sum. On the evening of September 16th, 100 families around the globe enjoyed 12 authentic Cantonese dishes at Guangzhou Restaurant, experiencing the joy of the Mid-Autumn reunion.
Data from tourism platforms shows that among the top ten food destinations with the highest attention during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the search volume for "Shunde Food Guide" on the platform surged by 125%, reflecting the growing trend of young travelers seeking out culinary adventures.
Since the beginning of the year, the trend of culinary tourism has been on the rise, with cities such as Foshan, Chaozhou, Shantou, and Zhanjiang becoming popular destinations for their unique food flavors. The appeal of these cities extends beyond special occasions like the Mid-Autumn Festival, as evidenced by the long queues of food enthusiasts found in Guangdong's urban centers. According to a sample survey of tourist spending, the proportion of catering expenses is the highest in the composition of domestic visitor spending in Guangdong Province in the first half of 2024.
Data shows that in 2023, Guangdong's catering revenue led the nation at 576.3 billion yuan, accounting for 10.9% of the national total. The province also boasts the largest number of catering outlets, with the number reaching 989,000, accounting for 12.8% of the national market. According to incomplete statistics, Guangdong Province provides diverse flavors, with local specialty dishes from 27 provinces and cities available within the province. This diversity has made "Flavors of China in Guangdong" a way of real life.

广东中秋假期迎客逾2100万 餐饮市场火爆
中秋节假期,广东省接待游客2135.7万人次,较2019年同期增长13.6%。随着美食旅游逐渐成为文旅消费的热点,跟着味蕾到广东品尝广府、潮汕、客家三地传统美食和广式茶点,以舌尖体味岭南文化,成为广东文旅消费新特征。9月16日晚,100组中外家庭在广州酒家品尝12道正宗的广府名菜,感受中秋团圆的喜悦。
根据旅游平台数据显示,在今年中秋小长假关注度最高的美食目的地前十中,平台上“顺德美食攻略”搜索热度上涨125%。到各地品美食,满足味蕾需求已成为越来越多年轻人出游的主要动力之一。
今年以来,“味蕾游”持续走红,佛山、潮州、汕头、湛江等地因独特的美食风味吸引消费者前往打卡。就算不是中秋佳节,在广东各大城市街头巷尾,为“吃”而动、奔赴“味蕾游”的消费者们也常常排起了长队。根据游客花费抽样调查结果显示,上半年广东全省接待国内游客的花费构成中餐饮花费占比最高。
数据显示,2023年广东餐饮收入稳居全国第一,2023年全年广东餐饮总收入达5763亿元,占全国10.9%;2023年广东餐饮门店规模稳居全国第一,餐饮市场门店数量规模达98.9万家,在全国中占到12.8%。据不完全统计,广东省汇聚了27个省市的地方特色菜,意味着足不出省就能吃遍全国各地的特色美食,“食在广东”已成为真实的生活状态。
