On the afternoon of July 11th, the 2024 Maritime Guangdong Program Annual Conference and the opening ceremony of the Short Flim Training Camp, hosted by the Yangcheng Evening News Group, took place in the ancient village of Langtou in Tanbu Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou. Lin Haili, Editor-in-Chief of Yangcheng Evening News Group, welcomed the top 20 young directors of the Maritime Guangdong Program to Lingnan. During the event, directors presented their initial project proposals, and partnering organizations offered enhanced rewards on-site.

This year, the Maritime Guangdong Program adopted "Backflow" as its theme for film creation. Over the next four days, the top 20 young directors will immerse themselves in this artistically rich village with Lingnan characteristics. They will receive professional guidance from six industry veterans: Feng Simu, Kang Chunlei, Lyu Meng, Yang Cheng, Yang Pingdao, and Zhang Chong. The directors will participate in over ten activities, including film workshops, academic salons, script reading sessions, on-site creations, and village tours, embarking on an exciting film-making journey. This immersive "exam preparation" aims to help the top 20 directors refine their skills. The ten directors who pass the final review will each receive up to 200,000 yuan in creative support from the Yangcheng Evening News Group.

Langtou Ancient Village, the venue for this year's Training Camp, boasts over 700 years of history. It features a well-preserved and extensive collection of buildings from Ming and Qing dynasties, earning it the nickname "Scholar Village". Over the next four days, the top 20 young directors will experience firsthand the dramatic changes brought about by urban-rural integration trends, drawing inspiration and experiences for their short film creations.

As a significant cultural IP developed by the Yangcheng Evening News Group, the Maritime Guangdong Program has garnered strong support from numerous partners. During the opening ceremony, the Program also announced several special awards provided by partners, further enabling young directors to reach new heights.
