On the morning of June 19th, the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage project achieved a significant milestone as the Huangmaohai Bridge was officially connected. According to reports from the scene, this cross-sea passage, initiated as the first construction project after the release of the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," serves as the western extension of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The successful connection marks a critical advancement in the project's key control engineering, laying a solid foundation for its scheduled completion and opening to traffic by the end of 2024.

The Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage spans approximately 31 kilometers in total length, with the sea section covering around 14 kilometers. It features two main bridges, namely the Gaolan Port Bridge and the Huangmaohai Bridge. The Huangmaohai Bridge crosses the eastern and western navigation channels of the Huangmaohai Sea, employing a single-tower double-cable-stayed floating system design. It boasts a single span of 720 meters and a total length of 2,200 meters.

Once completed, this passage will change the current situation of limited connectivity between the coastal areas of western Guangdong and the core regions of the Greater Bay Area. It will facilitate economic development extending from the Greater Bay Area to western Guangdong and its coastal regions, further strengthening urban connections between western Guangdong and cities in the Greater Bay Area. Together with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, Humen Bridge, and Nansha Bridge, it forms a network of cross-sea passages within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

湾区“脊梁”！新跨海大桥顺利合龙

6月19日上午，黄茅海跨海通道项目黄茅海大桥正式完成合龙。记者从现场获悉，作为《粤港澳大湾区发展规划纲要》发布后首个开工建设的跨海通道工程，黄茅海跨海通道是港珠澳大桥的西延线，此次合龙标志着项目关键控制性工程取得重大进展，为2024年底建成通车奠定坚实基础。

黄茅海跨海通道路线全长约31公里，海域段长度约14公里，跨海段设置高栏港大桥和黄茅海大桥2座主桥。其中，黄茅海大桥跨越黄茅海海域的东航道及西航道，采用独柱式双索面全漂浮体系的设计，大桥单孔跨径达到720米，桥梁全长2200米。

该通道建成后，将改变粤西沿海地区与湾区核心区域通道单一的现状，实现大湾区经济发展向粤西和沿海地区辐射，进一步加强粤西地区城市与粤港澳大湾区城市间的联系，黄茅海大桥与港珠澳大桥、深中通道、虎门大桥、南沙大桥共同组成粤港澳大湾区跨海通道群。
