The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching. According to the holiday travel forecasts released by several online travel platforms, "Neo-Chinese style" tourism, centered around traditional Dragon Boat Festival customs, has become a new holiday travel trend.
Guangzhou tops the list for nearby travel bookings for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday
According to the big data of Umetrip.com, as of May 30th, domestic airline ticket bookings for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday lasting from June 8th to June 10th exceeded 2.07 million, and international airline ticket bookings were around 470,000, representing year-on-year increases of approximately 14% and 70%, respectively.
This year, more tourists are considering short-distance trips. Data from Trip.com, an online travel agency, shows that domestic nearby travel bookings for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday have increased by 20% year-on-year. Among popular nearby travel destinations, Guangzhou ranks fourth, following Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai.
Tongcheng Travel's data indicates that train tickets between core cities and surrounding cities are in high demand for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Since train tickets went on sale, ticket booking popularity from central cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou to nearby small cities, especially county-level cities, has more than doubled compared to regular days.
Dragon Boat Festival customs ignite "Neo-Chinese style" tourism
This Dragon Boat Festival holiday, traditional customs such as making rice dumplings, hanging mugwort, and dragon boat racing are particularly popular.
Dongguan, Guangdong boasts "dragon boat paddling", a national intangible cultural heritage, and it has the longest dragon boat month and a vibrant dragon boat atmosphere in the country. On Trip.com, the search popularity for Dongguan as a travel destination during this Dragon Boat Festival holiday has increased by more than 40% year-on-year. Many tourists are eager to witness the dragon boat races and experience the cultural richness of this "water-based intangible heritage."
Tongcheng Travel's report on the Dragon Boat Festival travel highlights that various "Neo-Chinese style" trips offering deep experiences of Chinese history and culture are gaining attention among young users. Popular "Neo-Chinese style" travel activities include visiting history museums, watching dragon boat races, experiencing intangible cultural heritage, checking in at historical and cultural sites, and participating in Hanfu dress-up experiences.
Dragon Boat Festival holiday focuses on intangible cultural heritage experiences
As of now, on the Tongcheng Travel platform, inquiries for two-to-four-hour guided tours and study tours at history museums during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday have more than tripled year-on-year. Xi'an, Hangzhou, Luoyang, Suzhou, and Chengdu are the most popular cities for taking photos in Hanfu. Additionally, traditional opera culture in Suzhou and Beijing, tea-picking culture in Fujian, and intangible cultural heritage tie-dyeing in Hunan and Yunnan are key attractions for Dragon Boat Festival cultural experiences.
According to the data from Tujia.com, a homestay online platform, as of May 29th, searches with keywords such as "dragon boat," "Dragon Boat Festival," and "zongzi (rice dumplings)" have increased by 50%, and related bookings for the Dragon Boat Festival period have doubled year-on-year.

端午小长假即将来临,多家在线旅游平台发布的假期出游预测显示,围绕端午传统民俗体验展开的“新中式”旅游成为假日出游的新热点。
广州登榜端午周边游热门预订城市
航旅纵横大数据显示,截至5月30日,端午假期(6.8-6.10)国内航线机票预订量超207万,出入境航线机票预订量约47万,比去年同期分别增长约14%和70%。
今年端午,更多游客考虑短途周边游。携程数据显示,端午假期国内周边游预订量同比增长20%,热门周边游目的地中,广州排名第四,仅次于南京、杭州和上海。
同程旅行数据显示,端午假期核心城市往返周边城市的车票紧俏。端午假期火车票开售后,上海、北京、广州等中心城市开往周边小城市特别是县级城市的车票预订热度较平日增长2倍以上。
端午民俗体验带火“新中式”旅游
包粽子、插艾草、赛龙舟……今年端午假期,民俗体验游尤为受关注。
在广东东莞,“扒龙船”作为国家级非遗,有着全国时间最长的龙舟月和热闹的龙舟氛围。携程平台上,今年端午假期,东莞目的地旅游搜索热度同比增长超40%。不少游客想去现场欣赏赛龙舟的风采,感受赛事氛围与“水上非遗”的文化底蕴。
同程旅行发布的端午出行报告指出,各类深度体验中国历史文化的“新中式”旅行正在受到年轻用户关注。热门的“新中式”旅行方式包括历史博物馆参观、龙舟观赛体验、非遗文化体验、历史文化景区打卡、汉服妆造体验等。
端午假期关注非遗文化体验
截至目前,同程旅行平台上,端午假期各地历史博物馆的2-4小时精讲小团和研学团咨询热度同比上涨超过2倍。西安、杭州、洛阳、苏州、成都是汉服拍照打卡热度最高的城市。此外,苏州、北京的传统戏曲文化,福建的采茶文化,湖南、云南等省市的非遗扎染文化,都是游客关注的端午假期非遗文化体验。
另据途家民宿数据,截至5月29日,平台标签或描述中含“龙舟”“端午”“粽子”等关键词的搜索量环比增长5成,端午期间相关民宿预订量同比增长2倍。
