作为全国生物多样性最丰富的省份之一，广东省历来高度重视生物多样性保护。近年来，广东积极建设野生动植物资源调查监测评价、以国家公园等自然保护地为核心的就地保护、以国家植物园为引领的迁地保护、生物安全风险防控和野生动植物保护现代化治理等五大体系。目前广东记录分布有陆生野生脊椎动物共1052种，野生高等植物6658种。
