During the Lantern Festival, a variety of events including temple fairs, cultural shows, and lantern riddle contests across the globe enabled international audiences and overseas Chinese to immerse themselves in the festive spirit and appreciate traditional Chinese culture.
On February 24th, the Embassy of China in Belgium and the Union of Chinese Associations in Belgium held the Chinese Spring Festival Fair in Antwerp, attracting nearly 2,000 attendees with its festive atmosphere, cultural performances, and experiences like Chinese cuisine, martial arts, traditional Chinese medicine, and Chinese calligraphy.
On February 24th in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a cultural event was held to celebrate the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival, starting with a suona solo, A Hundred Birds Paying Respect to the Phoenix. Performers from Chongqing, China, displayed Sichuan opera face-changing, folk songs, and folk instrumental ensembles, while Sri Lankan artists contributed traditional songs and dances, all to widespread applause.
In Cape Town, South Africa, the annual Lantern Festival on February 24th was a cultural spectacle, featuring a variety of Chinese cultural and food stalls. Visitors engaged in traditional Chinese arts such as calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting, and tui na (Chinese medical massage) as well as savored authentic street foods like liangpi (cold skin noodles), roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and hot dry noodles. Performances like dragon and lion dances, Tai Chi and martial arts captivated over 5,000 Belgians and overseas Chinese.
This year, the Import Fair in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, celebrated its first Lantern Festival, featuring vendors in red and a festively decorated market. Dragon and lion dances, along with sword performances, captivated onlookers.
On the evening of February 23rd, the Chinese Cultural Center in Bucharest and the Romania Association Culture and Art Promotions co-hosted their first Lantern Riddle Night, drawing nearly 200 Romanians and overseas Chinese to celebrate together.
The Chinese Embassy in Canada recently hosted a reception for the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival, featuring performances that highlighted the cultural heritage in China’s Central Plain, including Zhengzhou dough figurines, Zhuxian Town New Year woodblock prints and paper-cutting, as well as traditional music.
A visitor to the reception was struck by the performers' patience and nimbleness in paper-cutting and dough sculpting, noting, "It's uplifting to see the youth revitalizing traditions."

24日,中国驻比利时大使馆携手旅比华侨华人社团联盟在安特卫普市举办“中国春节游园庙会”活动。现场气氛喜庆热烈,文艺表演以及中餐、武术、中医、书法等体验活动吸引近2000名游客。
斯里兰卡首都科伦坡24日举行专场文艺演出,欢庆新春和元宵佳节。演出由唢呐独奏《百鸟朝凤》拉开帷幕,来自中国重庆的艺术家表演了川剧变脸、民歌、民乐打击乐合奏等特色节目,斯里兰卡的艺术家也带来了本国传统民族歌舞,在场观众掌声不断。

观众格洛丽亚·古德温说,展演人员在剪纸、做面塑时表现出的耐心和敏捷令她印象深刻,“看到年轻人能让传统保持活力真是太棒了”。
