On February 18th, in the "City of Innovation" Shenzhen, Guangdong held a provincial conference on high-quality development. This first meeting of the new year focused on themes such as the mutual promotion of industry and technology. Zhang Liqun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of South China University of Technology, said in an exclusive interview with Yangcheng Evening News that since 2009, SCUT has been the university with the largest number of Chinese patent awards won by the first completion unit nationwide. In 2023, high-level platforms such as the Super Robot Research Institute (Huangpu) and the Huangpu Green Advanced Materials Technology Research Institute will successively be established at SCUT.

How can scientific research achievements be effectively transformed into actual productivity?

"We should not only focus on basic research to lay the foundation for breakthroughs in original technologies from 0 to 1, but also pay attention to the critical technology breakthroughs and innovations that are particularly urgently needed in Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," said Zhang Liqun.

Zhang Liqun introduced that SCUT focuses on Guangdong's needs, deepens the collaborative innovation of "government + large enterprises + large research institutions + large research institutes," to accelerate the construction of new platforms such as the Super Robot Research Institute(Huangpu Guangzhou)and the Green Advanced Materials Technology Research Institute(Huangpu,Guangzhou), we need to take unconventional measures to speed up the super robot core technologies, integrated circuit innovation achievements, OLED material properties, and special paper-based materials to achieve major breakthroughs and realize large-scale applications and domestic substitution, accelerating the emergence of a group of technology-based enterprises. Among them, SCUT has built an industry-university-research model deeply integrated with Guangdong's industries. Focusing on the construction of Guangdong's strategic industries and innovation ecological chain, SCUT creates a technology transformation model of deep integration, mutual promotion, co-existence, and win-win cooperation, effectively transforming scientific research achievements into realistic productivity that empowers Guangdong's industrial development.

Zhang Liqun introduced that SCUT focuses on emerging frontier interdisciplinary fields, strengthens the planning and layout in areas such as new energy, super robots, active health, artificial intelligence, and integrated circuits, promotes organized research andtacklingkey problems with "large platforms + large teams + multi-disciplinary" approaches, and breaks through a number of technologies that restrict industrial development. By further deepening the cooperation between universities, local governments, and enterprises, SCUT promotes the construction of high-end new research and development institutions facing industrial development, continuously improves its ability to support the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area, and creates a "Bay Area Model" for technology transformation with high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.

全省2024高质量发展大会丨华南理工大学校长张立群:以高水平科技自立自强打造成果转化“湾区模式”

2月18日,在“创新之城”深圳,广东召开全省高质量发展大会,此次新春第一会聚焦产业和科技互促双强等主题。

中国工程院院士、华南理工大学校长张立群接受羊城晚报记者专访时表示,华南理工大学自2009年以来,以第一完成单位获中国专利奖数量全国第一的高校。2023年,聚焦人形机器人的超级机器人研究院(黄埔)、黄埔绿色先进材料技术研究院等高能级平台相继在华工落地。

如何将科研成果有效转化为实际生产力?

“既抓基础研究,为从0到1的原创技术的突破奠定基础,同时也抓广东、粤港澳大湾区特别急需的关键技术突破与创新。”张立群说。

张立群介绍,聚焦广东需求,华工深化“政府+大企+大院+大所”协同创新,超常规建设超级机器人研究院(黄埔)、黄埔绿色先进材料技术研究院等新型平台,加快推动超级机器人核心技术、集成电路创新成果,以及OLED材料性能、特种纸基材料等取得重大突破,并实现规模应用和国产化替代,加速催生一批科技型企业。其中,华工构建了与广东产业深度融合的产学研模式。围绕广东战略性产业和创新生态链建设,打造深度融合、互促共生、共建共赢的科技成果转化模式,有效将科研成果转化为赋能广东产业发展的现实生产力。

张立群介绍,华工聚焦新兴前沿交叉领域,加强在新能源、超级机器人、主动健康、人工智能和集成电路等方面的谋篇布局,推动“大平台+大团队+多学科”的有组织科研攻关,突破一批制约产业发展的“卡脖子”技术。进一步深化校地、校企合作,推进面向产业发展的高端新型研发机构建设,不断提升服务支撑大湾区高质量发展的能力,以高水平科技自立自强打造成果转化“湾区模式”。
