The first writing ceremony, also called the Qi Meng (enlightenment) ceremony, was an enlightening educational practice for young students in Chinese traditional culture. It is hailed as one of the four major ceremonies in life. On August 28, Guangzhou City held the 2023 First Writing Ceremony for the enrollment of first-grade students from primary schools in Yuexiu District. The pupils gathered in front of the statue of Confucius at Panyu Academy within the district, struck the large drum to symbolize their aspirations and ambitions, and started their first lesson amid a profound sense of ceremony. 开笔礼俗称为“破蒙”，是我国传统文化中学童开始识字习礼的一种启蒙教育形式，被称为人生四大礼之一。8月28日，广州市举办了2023年越秀区小学一年级新生入学开笔礼。学子们在区内番禺学宫的孔子像前敲响大鼓，许下心愿，说出志向，在满满的仪式感中上好小学第一课。开笔礼是对传统文化的传承和继承，也是学生迈开学习第一步的重要仪式。
