In 2013, the first Chengdu-Europe International Cargo Express Railway (later renamed China-Europe Railway Express) departed from Chengdu International Railway Port to Lodz, Poland. In 2016, with many Chinese railway routes categorized into the China-Europe Railway Express, Poland became a significant destination and transit hub for multiple routes of the China-Europe Railway Express as a gateway for the Express's entry into the European market.
According to Zhao Yihua, Chairman of the Poland Silk Road Foundation and Executive Director of Guangdong Taisheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., the opening of the China-Europe Railway Express has opened a fast international logistics channel for high-quality agricultural products from Poland to enter the Chinese market, and also provided more opportunities for Chinese companies and investors to explore the vast new market in Europe.
Zhao Yihua has operated a business in Poland for more than 30 years. The opening of the China-Europe Railway Express showed him huge business opportunities. He was also the first batch of businessmen to transport Polish apples to China through the China-Europe Railway Express. "Poland's 'wild' apples are world-famous. It will take 45 days from Poland to Nansha Port in Guangzhou if transported by sea, but it only takes 15 days by the China-Europe Railway Express. The shortened transportation time greatly benefits the cross-border trade of agricultural products, whose shelf life is relatively short."
波兰丝绸之路基金会主席招益华:波兰苹果借中欧班列敲开中国大门
2013年,首趟蓉欧快铁(后统一命名为中欧班列)从成都国际铁路港开往波兰罗兹。2016年,随着统一品牌的中欧班列开出,波兰成为中欧班列多条班车线路终点站或必经的枢纽站,是中欧班列进入欧洲市场的门户。
在波兰丝绸之路基金会主席、广东泰升药业有限公司执行董事招益华看来,中欧班列的开通,为波兰的优质农产品进入中国市场开辟了一条快速的国际物流通道,也让中国企业及国内投资者有更多机会去开辟欧洲广阔的新市场。
招益华在波兰经营企业30多年。中欧班列的开通,让他看到了商机,他也是最早一批通过中欧班列将波兰的苹果运送到中国的商人。“波兰的‘野生’苹果全球知名,如果走海运的话,从波兰到南沙港就要45天,但通过中欧班列则只需要15天,农产品的保质期相对较短,运输时间缩短对于农产品的跨国贸易影响非常大。”
