"Let me share a story with you, from which we can learn that Chinese language and culture education is closely related to the development of China." In the afternoon of the 17th, Zhang Zhongmin, Chairman of the board of the Aihua Chinese Language School in Spain, shared a story about a European student learning Chinese, which resonated with the participants at the sub-conference themed "Chinese Language and Culture Education" of the 2023 Overseas Chinese Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Conference.
More than 100 delegates from different countries like China, Indonesia, Spain, Panama, South Africa and the Philippines gathered at the event, which was around "Chinese Language and Culture Education and the Transmission and Dissemination of Chinese Culture".
The headmaster of Puhua Indonesian Trilingual School, Chen Youming, who has been engaged in Chinese language and culture education for many years, said that the trilingual schools are generally appreciated and favoured by the locals, but the quality of teaching remains to be further improved. In this regard, Chen Youming suggested that a curriculum with a standard system be developed from the syllabus, teaching outlines, teaching materials, lesson plans, teaching methods and assessment methods.
In the story shared by Zhang Zhongmin in his speech, the European student who learnt Chinese from childhood at Zhang's school participated in an exchange programe with a Chinese university in Spain and then obtained a double degree. Later this smart man caught a niche from the products of some Chinese companies, which led to the listing of the company he started with venture capital. Zhang concluded that the mastery of Chinese brought the student such an opportunity. He also suggested that overseas Chinese schools should try to incorporate lively, interesting, and practical content into their curriculums.
At the event, experts in Chinese language and culture education are also paying close attention to the development of the GBA development. Huang Duanming, Chairman of the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, said, "With the enormous cooperation potential for GBA and overseas Chinese education schools, we are willing to explore cooperative opportunities with GBA relevant departments."
华文教育应兼具全球视野与实用性
“我给大家分享一个小故事,从这个故事就可以看出,华文教育与祖国发展密切相关。”17日下午,2023华侨华人粤港澳大湾区大会“华文教育”分论坛上,西班牙爱华中文学校董事长张忠民分享了一则欧洲学生学习汉语的故事,引起了与会嘉宾的共鸣。
当天的分论坛以“华文教育与中华文化传承传播”为主题,来自中国、印尼、西班牙、巴拿马、南非、菲律宾等国家的嘉宾代表共100余人齐聚一堂。
印尼普华三语学校校长陈友明从事华文教育多年,他表示,华文三语学校普遍受到各地社会民众的赞许和青睐,但教学质量也有待进一步提高。对此,陈友明建议可以从课纲、教纲、教材、教案、教学法、评测法的课程和标准体系着手进行优化。
张忠民在发言中分享了一名欧洲学生学习汉语的故事:这名学生从小在他那里学习中文,并参加西班牙一个与中国高校的交换生学习项目,取得了双学位,后来更是从中国企业的产品中捕捉到商机,从而让自己创业的公司获得风险投资上市了。张忠民说,这种机遇缘于他懂中文。张忠民建议,海外中文学校应该在课程中尽量穿插生动有趣且具有实用性的内容。
华文教育专家们也非常关注粤港澳大湾区的发展。菲律宾华教中心主席黄端铭表示,“粤港澳大湾区与华校有巨大的合作空间,我们愿意与粤港澳大湾区有关部门共同探讨合作机会。”
