The third phase of the 140th Canton Fair opened on October 31st. The 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Shenzhen on November 18th and 19th. With the two major events following in close succession, ports across Guangzhou have stepped up preparations to support both events.
Since the opening of this Canton Fair, buyers from APEC member economies have accounted for 60.54% of overseas buyers entering through ports in Guangzhou, making them the majority of inbound traffic.
The 140th Canton Fair coincides with the 70th anniversary of its founding and has reached a new high in scale. As of October 28th, 278,000 overseas buyers had attended the event, according to organizer data.

Statistics from the Guangzhou General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection show that buyers from APEC member economies are arriving in Guangzhou in large numbers. A total of 146,200 entries by buyers from these economies were recorded through ports including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Pazhou Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Ferry Port and Nansha Passenger Port, up 21.5% year on year. Malaysia, Thailand, Russia, Australia and Singapore were among the top source economies. Australian buyer Serge said: "I entered China visa-free. It was very simple and smooth. It's very convenient to come to China. I like it very much."
Policy incentives and streamlined entry procedures have jointly driven this influx of visitors from across the Asia-Pacific. Business travelers holding an APEC Business Travel Card can enjoy fast-track immigration processing at ports in Guangzhou. Starting November 1st, 2026, holders of valid APEC Business Travel Cards will be allowed to stay in China for up to 90 days, better accommodating business itineraries involving multiple destinations. After attending the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, many business visitors will also travel to Shenzhen for APEC-related business events, allowing them to attend both major events on a single entry.
