On October 29th, reporters learned that Fu Lu, General Manager for Greater China Cross-border Business at Ant International, spoke at the 2026 Seminar on APEC Smart Tourism held in Hangzhou. She said that in addition to supporting the linking of overseas bank cards to Alipay across seven major international card networks, Alipay now accepts more than 90 overseas e-wallets and mobile banking services from over 18 countries and regions through Alipay+, the global cross-border payment network under Ant International. Overseas visitors to China do not need to download new apps. They can scan Alipay QR codes at domestic merchants and pay with their regular local digital payment tools.
Data from the National Immigration Administration shows that China recorded 11.601 million inbound visits by foreign nationals in the first three quarters of this year, including 8.992 million visa-free visits, up 24.1% year on year. Ant Group has been supporting more convenient inbound payments through two solutions: linking overseas bank cards to Alipay and enabling overseas e-wallets to be used in China through Alipay+. During the 2026 National Day holiday, spending in China by inbound visitors using these services rose nearly 50% year on year. The number of tax refunds processed through Alipay+ partner wallets alone increased 88%, with the average value of goods per refund transaction reaching around 7,000 yuan.

Beyond payments, AI tools are expected to help address information gaps before travelers set off. During the APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in Suzhou this May, Alipay+ Voyager, an intelligent travel assistant, launched its "Travel to Suzhou" destination page. Visitors from APEC economies including Thailand and Malaysia can access it through their local e-wallets to browse travel guides, plan itineraries and book tickets and hotels. In July, Malaysia's Touch 'n Go eWallet launched its "Travel to Hangzhou" destination page. Ant International said that over the past three years, Alipay+ has expanded its coverage to more than 10 million merchants across APEC economies, while transaction value and the number of users of its partner e-wallets have grown by 150% and 115%, respectively.
