Huajuhong, made from the dried epicarp of Huazhou pomelo and renowned as one of China's "Four Southern Medicines," dates back more than 1,600 years. This precious medicinal material,grown primarily in Guangdong, has attracted admirers from around the world for its unique medicinal value.

Ahead of China's 2026 "Two sessions," "Guangdong Goods Explorer" and Ecuadorian student David Cobo visited Huazhou in Maoming and met with Liao Zhilue, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the Maoming Huazhou Peilin Juhong Planting Professional Cooperative.

According to Liao, Huajuhong's main functions are to dry dampness, resolve phlegm, regulate qi, and soothe the middle. It is particularly effective for respiratory issues such as tracheitis, bronchitis, and chronic pharyngitis. Once used mainly as a traditional medicinal material, Huajuhong is now available in more than 200 product types, including medicines, foods, tea drinks, and health supplements, making it easier to incorporate into everyday life.

Currently, Huajuhong is consumed in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide. At the end of the visit, Liao Zhilue and David Cobo planted a Huajuhong seedling together and named it the "International Tree." Looking at the seedling he had just planted, David Cobo said, "I hope my family and friends far away in South America will also have the opportunity to taste it, and I also hope more people around the world will get to know Huajuhong."

被誉为“中国四大南药”之一的化橘红至今已有1600多年种植历史。这种主要产于广东的珍贵药材，因其独特的药用价值吸引着来自世界各地的“粉丝”。

2026年全国两会前夕，“广货探秘官”、厄瓜多尔留学生贺沛霖（David Cobo）走进茂名化州，拜访全国人大代表、化州市培林橘红种植专业合作社社长廖志略。

据介绍，化橘红的主要功效是燥湿化痰、理气宽中。针对呼吸道问题，如气管炎、支气管炎、慢性咽炎等，使用化橘红效果尤为明显。从传统药材到如今的药品、食品、茶饮、保健品，200多个品类的化橘红产品，方便人们日常食用。

如今，全球30多个国家和地区都在使用化橘红。探访结束前，廖志略与贺沛霖与他一同种下了一棵化橘红树苗，并把它命名为“国际树”。看着自己亲手种下的树苗，贺沛霖由衷感慨：“我希望远在南美洲的家人和朋友也有机会品尝到，更希望让全世界都认识化橘红。”
