“Running on home ground and passing familiar landmarks such as Echeng Bridge, Shuidong Street, and Hejiang Tower felt especially meaningful,” said Chen Huawei, the winner of the men’s full marathon at the Huizhou Marathon. Chen successfully defended his title for the second consecutive year, crossing the finish line in 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Chen revealed that he experienced physical discomfort during the early stages of the race and briefly considered withdrawing. However, encouraged by his wife’s steadfast support and the enthusiastic cheers of local residents, he persevered and ultimately surpassed his previous performance at the Huizhou Marathon.
