On July 1, Guangdong Cultural and Tourism Center was officially inaugurated in Paris, marking the establishment of a new cultural bridge between Lingnan and Europe along the romantic Seine River. The launch event brought together representatives from Chinese and French government agencies, tourism institutions, business associations, and mainstream media.
Zhang Haomiao, Director of the China National Tourist Office in Paris, praised the initiative as “a model for international promotion of local culture and tourism, injecting strong momentum into China-France people-to-people exchanges.”Jean Louis Baladraud, former Secretary General of the French National Tourism Committee, commented, “Guangdong's diverse tourism resources are highly attractive to French travelers. The Center's localized approach will greatly assist French tourism professionals in designing products and drawing visitors. It's about telling the 'Guangdong story' in a French way.”
Sybille Dubois-Fontaine, Secretary General of the France-China Committee, added, “The timing of this Center's establishment is perfect. It will serve as a vital for all sectors in France to better understand Guangdong and explore collaboration opportunities. We look forward to co-developing more impactful projects.”
The venue featured strong Lingnan cultural elements, with a highlight being the traditional Cantonese embroidery exhibition. Master Wang Xinyuan, a senior arts and crafts artist and recognized inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage Guangxiu project, showcased six signature embroidery pieces. These works—spanning themes from animals and bronzeware to Lingnan scenery—blended traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, drawing high praise from French guests and the public alike for their intricate artistry and cultural depth.
On the same day, the Center's official website (www.discoverguangdong.com) was launched, offering information, interactive content, and immersive experiences. The Center also unveiled a series of customized “Authentic Guangdong” travel itineraries, catering to French tourists' growing interest in in-depth cultural experiences, culinary discovery, and personalized travel.
