On June 30th, 2024, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link (the Link) officially opened to traffic. The Link carried over 720,000 vehicle trips in the first week of operation, surged to nearly 3 million in its first month, and has since accumulated more than 31 million vehicle trips over the past year. As of June 30th, 2025, the average daily traffic reached 86,000 vehicle trips, with a single-day peak of 181,600 vehicles.
The immersed tube undersea tunnel of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link spans 6.8 kilometers, with a 6-kilometer descent from the bridge deck to the sea level. Under normal conditions, vehicles take about 15 minutes to traverse the Link; during peak traffic, travel time can extend to approximately 50 minutes.
Within one month of opening, Zhongshan's tourism revenue hit 2.37 billion yuan, marking a 65.16% year‑on‑year increase. In 2024, Shenzhen and Zhongshan saw nearly 80% growth year-over-year in technology contract transactions.
Over its first year, traffic flow on the Link has remained orderly, and driving through the Link takes about 15 minutes outside of major holidays. The Link has helped ease traffic congestion around the Pearl River estuary, with cross-river vehicle flow growing by 15%.
Since the opening, two cross-city bus lines connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan have been launched, operating around 100,000 trips in total and transporting approximately 2.8 million passengers, with an average of about 7,000 passengers per day.
Cross-border transport routes from Zhongshan to Hong Kong increased by 37.5% to 11 routes. Daily passenger departures average around 1,655, an increase of 47.2% compared to those before the Link opened.
Over 940,000 passengers from the western bank of the Pearl River estuary traveled to Shenzhen to take a flight, a rise of more than 160% compared with pre-opening levels.
In 2024, technology transactions between Shenzhen and Zhongshan reached nearly 100 million yuan (an 80% year-on-year rise). More than 20 projects, with investment exceeding 5 billion yuan, were launched in Zhongshan Cuiheng New District. Additionally, 34 projects each worth over 100 million yuan were secured in Jiangmen, and Taishan attracted 24 industrial transfer projects with a total investment of 6.05 billion yuan. Over 400 biopharma enterprises, including AscenPower, have settled in Nansha. At the 2024 Nansha Global Investment Promotion and Talent Attraction Conference, more than 1,400 enterprises participated, of which more than 30% were from Shenzhen.
These figures underscore the powerful momentum driving integration across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
“数”看深中通道一周年:通行车流量超3100万车次
2024年6月30日,深中通道正式通车。深中通道开通首周突破72万车次,开通首月近300万车次,通车一年间累计通行车流量超3100万车次。截至2025年6月30日,深中通道日均车流量达8.6万车次,日车流最高峰值18.16万车次。
•深中通道海底沉管隧道6.8公里长,桥面到海底长下坡6公里。平日车流通行时间15分钟,车流高峰期通行时间约50分钟。
•深中通道通车首月,中山市旅游业总收入达23.7亿元,同比增长65.16%。2024年深圳、中山技术合同交易额同比增长近80%。
•深中通道通车一年,通行秩序良好,非重大节假日驾车过通道约15分钟。缓解珠江口交通拥堵,珠江口过江车流增长率达15%。
•通车一年来,深中通道同步开通2条深·中跨市公交专线,双线累计发班约10万车次、运送旅客约280万人次,日均约7000人。
•中山至香港跨境运输班线增加37.5%至11条,实现日均发送旅客约1655人次,较深中通道开通前增长47.2%。
•超94万珠江口西岸旅客来深乘机,较通车前增长超160%。
•2024年深圳中山技术交易近1亿元,80%的同比增长;超20个项目,超50亿元投资落地中山翠亨新区;34个超亿元深圳项目落户江门,台山承接产业转移项目24个、总投资60.5亿元;芯粤能半导体等400余家生物医药企业落户南沙,2024年南沙全球招商引智大会吸引1400余家企业参与,其中深圳企业超 30%。
这些数字背后,正是粤港澳大湾区融合发展的强劲动力。
