Recently, the third and fourth test wind turbine positions of China's first offshore wind power experimental base in Shantou, Guangdong, were successfully completed. The maximum testing capacity of a single turbine reaches 24 megawatts, making it the largest in the world.
Since the first phase of the turbine positions went into operation in 2022, the base has completed testing for various new types of offshore wind turbines. This has contributed to Guangdong's installed capacity of offshore wind power exceeding 12 million kilowatts by the end of 2024.
At the end of last year, the world's largest single-unit offshore wind turbine, the 18-megawatt turbine from Dongfang Electric Wind Power, successfully completed its continuous cross-over testing and passed the grid-connected trial operation at this base. This turbine has an annual electricity generation capacity of approximately 72 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity needs of 36,000 households. Additionally, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 72,000 tons each year.
The base has completed the testing of five new turbine models, effectively supporting the safe grid connection of multiple offshore wind power projects. During the construction, the team overcame challenges such as complex geological conditions and completed the pouring of 4,300 cubic meters of concrete foundation within 20 hours, setting a new record in power grid construction.

近日,位于广东汕头的国内首个风电临海试验基地第3、4号风机试验机位顺利建成,单机测试容量最大达24兆瓦,居世界第一。
自2022年一期机位投入运营以来,基地已完成多种新型海上风电机型的检测,助力广东海上风电装机规模在2024年底突破1200万千瓦。
去年底,全球单机容量最大的东方风电18兆瓦风机在此完成连续穿越测试并通过并网试运行。据介绍,该机组年均发电量约7200万千瓦时,可满足3.6万户家庭用电需求,同时每年减少二氧化碳排放7.2万吨。
基地已累计完成5种新机型检测,有效支持多个海上风电项目安全并网。建设过程中,团队克服复杂地质条件等难题,在20小时内完成4300立方米超大容量基础混凝土浇筑,创造了电网建设新纪录。
